Localized Node Tracking via RSSI in a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are tremendously being utilized in diverse places to perform various monitoring applications, including target tracking, smart environment monitoring, automated plants, nodes replacement, autonomous deployment and redeployment of sensor nodes. For most wireless sensor network (WSN) applications, localization of sensor nodes has great significance. Global positioning systems (GPS) have not fitted into WSNs very well because of their power consumption, prices, limitations and accuracy in their operating environment. Hence, new localization techniques have emerged over the last decade. They show variation in the physical phenomena they use, the signal properties they measure, the resources they consume, as well as in their precision, range, advantages and constraints. As event detection is one of the main purposes of using wireless sensor networks (WSNs), the location of nodes is essential to determine the location of an event when it occurs. Many localization models have been proposed in the literature, one of which is to deploy a set of static location-aware nodes, called anchors, to exchange information with the other node to determine its location. This project proposes techniques for mobility-assisted localization in WSNs. This project falls under the trilateration technique based on Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI). It will demonstrate RSS-based localization of sensor nodes in a WSN and also robotic mobile node navigation to the target node In this research work, four main contributions are achieved in the design of such models. (i) Computation of node position (ii) Iterative refinement of found position(iii) Determination of nodes distances (iv) Robotic mobile node navigation to the localized node. While this method seems to produce favorable results, it also brings new challenges. The primary challenge is to ?nd an optimal path for the mobile node to follow while taking into account the accurate data and tracking the target node in less time and with less energy.
The objective of the project is to find the location of the target node and ?nd an optimal path for the mobile node to follow while taking into account the accurate data and tracking towards it in less time and with less energy.
Following methods will be followed in Project Implementation.
(i) Computation of node position
(ii) Iterative refinement of found position
(iii) Determination of nodes distances
(iv) Robotic mobile node navigation to the localized node.
- No excessive Hardware
- Easy deployment without changing the existing inrastructure
- Low power Consumption
Localization and tracking of nodes are very tricky in a Wireless Sensor Network. To overcome the above problem, we have provided a solution. Our project will have sesnsor nodes and a Robot.
There will be three anchor nodes and a tagret node. The anchor nodes will receive a message sent by targetnode. The strength of the message will help us in calcualting their Rssi values. These values will be used for distance estimation between the two nodes which would be send to the processor and Robot for tracking the target node.
