In this modern era of IoT is trending and emerging technology, which is ruling over many industries. It provides improved lifestyle. It also helps in modernization and advancement of business. However, heterogeneity of devices makes problem for the interoperability of the connected devices. This is the challenge for the adaptation of IoT in daily life. In the presented thesis, a solution to this problem is proposed. This solution tells how to manipulate the raw data for healthcare purpose. This raw data is shared between connected networks of “Things”. In such heterogeneous world, safety of our new-borns and babies is very important. Parents are always worried about the health and security of their children. They want a place where their children can play safely and live without any danger. For this purpose, IoT provide a solution for this problem. IoT provides sensing modules to monitor child and their surroundings. Fast internet connections made this technology to work even better with IoT. IoT becoming popular now-a-days in wide variety of industries and applications. It is a very huge topic which contain many subfields in it. IOT is getting upgrading day by day simultaneously its security is also important. As IOT is the vast concept it includes many types of subtopics in which we are working on the project named as “Smart and Secure IOT Based Child Monitoring System”. Key purpose of this study to solve the problems of baby guardian and also secure the baby from entering the danger zone. As soon as the baby enters the danger zone the guardian will be notified through the various methods either by SMS system or via the warning buzzers. When the baby is near the danger zone it will alert the guardian by blinking with red LED and if the baby is far away from the danger zone then yellow LED will blink similarly when baby is in intermediate of the danger zone green LED will specify the guardian. This research includes temperature and humidity sensors, Bluetooth module, and motion sensor and display device. For operating purpose, we are connecting our device to the baby and alerts as well as notifications will be given to the guardians display device.

Project Objectives

This monitoring system should be manually switched on when the mother wishes to leave the baby alone asleep in the house. In this system there are four sensory devices i.e. a PIR sensor to monitor the physical movement of the baby, a moisture sensor to sense whether the baby has urinated, then a noise sensor to detect whether the baby is crying and a camera for recording the visuals. All these sensors are connected to an arduino chip, which follows an algorithm to process the sensory data and gives the output. So whenever the baby moves from its position, the GSM module sends a text message to the mother and then she can watch the baby through online surveillance and can take action. Similarly if the baby wakes up and cries or excretes, the sensors will detect and the mother will be immediately notified through text messages, so that the mother can assist somebody (like neighbor) to take care of the baby. Or else she has the option to play a melodious music through the speakers to make the bay fall asleep again. In case of any threat, like if any intruder tries to harm the baby, the PIR sensor will sense and the camera will automatically start recording the visuals. Then this recording can be used as an evidence to catch hold of the criminal.

Project Implementation Method

in this system we use sound sensor. Sound sensor is used to detect the abnormal high pitch of sound, which may use to indicate the cry of a baby. Whenever such sound arises our proposed system is designed to activate the servo motor and toggle the cradle. In order to make the baby sleep or to make him/her calm. Rain sensor is used to track the status of the diaper, and to notify the parents if the baby urinates his/her inners. This gives the required information to the caregiver or the parents some vital information’s.It is noticed that with the assistance of the suggested crib design the child gets greater attention. It also ensures infant protection.

Benefits of the Project

Main objective of this study is to monitor baby’s environment and activities using a cost effective methods. Baby’s health and security is necessary part of every parent’s daily life. For this purpose, a new system is introduced to monitor environmental parameters using different sensors. These sensors include Touch sensor, temperature, humidity and motion sensor. This data is transmitted through ARDUINO to the server for analysis and results with great effect and small cost. These sensors were operated through the microcontroller. Touch value is calculated by putting finger near to it. These calculated rates will have stored in computer. Calculated values will be shown on the computer screen as well as mobile phone application.

To determine the body movement, PIR motion sensor sense data and transmit to the receiving module which is microcontroller. In addition, it transfers the data to computer with cable lastly, the recorded data in computer will be presented 

Temperature and humidity level of room is calculated to check the environment. Decision Tree classification method is used for classification and predictions. Results shows that this classifier gives accurate results and is reliable. This system projects baby’s safety into three different classes with an accuracy of 87.18%. It classifies the data into three different classes automatically without human interfering. Results shows that projected system is user responsive, consistent, inexpensive and easy to use for monitoring baby and infants with cost effective technology. System using IOT helps the parent to monitor their child even if they are distant from the home and detect the activity of the baby from any distinct corner of the world. It is an Innovative, smart and protective cradle system to nurture an infant in an efficient way. This system consists of all the care and protection details of the baby in the cradle. The design of smartness and innovation comes with the use of technologies which include Internet of Things (IOT) modules like Raspberry Pi, Humidity and Temperature sensing, cry detecting mechanism, live video surveillance, Cloud Computing and android application. All the conditions which is been taken from the modules will be stored in cloud (thing Speak) and analysed at regular intervals. A healthy algorithm is applied to these data sets to get information about the body conditions which is useful as any regular symptoms of a disease can be identified easily.
