Quantum Computing is the technology of future. According to Moore’s law there is a limit to classical computing so we are moving to quantum computing as it provides more natural processing using qubits than any classical computer can provide. The renaissance in Quantum computing in this era has been proven quite marvelous. Previously theorized concepts of quantum computers are now being given an actual practical image. The advancement in this field is explosive in all other fields of applications. Even though this field is still in infancy but, it proves evidently quite effective in computation and signal information than classical domain of science. Our goal is to use this field into presenting a generic routing algorithm. In classical routing we still face problems like memory allocation, database search, cost-effective path finder and many more due to limitations of classical computation. Whereas quantum computation exceeds in each of these departments. Its logarithmic step memory allocation, and properties of quantum mechanics like entanglement and superposition make computation effective, efficient and fast. In this project our aim is to develop a generic routing algorithm and test it on free quantum cloud services presented by the corporations like IBM, Rigetti and many more. In Figure.1 a pictorial demonstration is given of this project how networking is carried out efficiently over distance of 7 km over quantum domain.

Project Objectives

•Introduce and become familiar with quantum computing and review quantum algorithms.

•Test and analyze current quantum platforms.

•Design a new algorithm for packet routing to illustrate that quantum computing when developed fully is better than classical computing.

•This project aims to jump in current boom of research in quantum computing after the release of cloud quantum computing platform.

Project Implementation Method

The method is to combine quantum and classical computation algorithm steps to take advantages of both worlds in presenting a generic routing algorithm. A classic routing algorithm will be used for graph development of network nodes and routing tables. Optimization will be through enhanced Grover’s algorithm for database search. After that quantum mechanics properties such as entanglement and superposition would play vital role in differentiating between states presented in qubit form of natural quantum information science. Figure.2 demonstrates a basic methodology of how quantum networking routing works and what advantage it has over classical routing.

Benefits of the Project

The proposed algorithm and applications based on the algorithm have following advantages over already available technologies.

Currently available algorithms like Dijkstra and Bell-Ford are limited to just being fast or efficient the proposed algorithm comprises of properties like being fast, efficient and secure.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

A GPU (General Processing Unit) will be used to implement generic quantum routing algorithm over physical channels for efficient running of algorithm. Simulations will be carried out over different quantum cloud services for testing parameters of qubits like coherence time, gate fidelity and large connectivity and virtual tokens would be purchased for to experiment our algorithm over their high-end hardware in real-time for purchased allotted time for cloud service.
