Wireless communicator for handicapped people

The project is about a glove system with sensors installed on it to sense the the movement of fingers for the purpose of capturing them so that they can be processed by a microcontroller system and whatever sign language gesture the hand makes, it is displayed on the LCD display.

Project Summary

The project is about a glove system with sensors installed on it to sense the the movement of fingers for the purpose of capturing them so that they can be processed by a microcontroller system and whatever sign language gesture the hand makes, it is displayed on the LCD display.

Project Objectives

The main objective of project is design an efficient and cheap module or device which provides an effective means of communication between deaf and dumb people and other normal individuals.

Project Implementation Method

The implementation method that we have selected for our project a microcontroller based system which will act as the heart of our device, and by using several sensors (IR, Ultrasonic, Flex, Accelerometer) we will try to capture the movement of hands which are basis for sign language and when the movement of the hand matches one of the gesture, a signal is send to the microcontroller which compares the input data to the database system after which the matching gesture is displayed on the LCD display in the English Language, the sign langauge which we are going to incorporate in our project is the British Sign Language 

Benefits of the Project

We know that in our current world, the deaf and dumb people only have a limited number of ways through which they can communicate effectively with other people, but these ways also come with variety of limitations to there name as well such as the most common one and widely used is the sign language, for which both the people communicating need to know about the sign language which becomes tideuos for a normal person without any disability, hence this problem needs to overcome with technology, for which we are develop a system that shows the sign language gesture on the lcd screen making it easier for the person to interpert what the disable person is trying to communicate.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverables which are going to be presented at the our final fyp presentation is going to be a Glove Based Microcontroller System having numerous sensors such as the IR, Ultrasonic, Flex, and Acclerometer sensor installed on the glove, which are going to capture the exact coordinates of location of the hand by its bending by flex sensor, it distance using ir, ultrasonic sensor and its bending and sorts by the usage of flex sensor and once the coordinates are captured they are sent to the microcontroller system for the purpose of processing which is a comparison based system of a matching the collected data to the already present data, after which if the data matches the result is displayed on the LCD display to be visible for the eye, so the final deliverables will be:

1. Glove (Sensor Attached)

2. Microcontroller Board (Heart of the system)

3. LCD display (Output Purpose)
