Project Summary

A digital Pen or Hand Written Character recognition is one form of human interaction. It  can be used effectively in HCI for static authentication with better password protection. In this project, the Digital Pen will be created consisting of triaxial micro-electromechanical Accelerometer, to capture the activities of the human and to capture motion trajection information from accelerations for recognizing gestures for handwriting. Digital Pen provides a way to communicate between the human and the computers in order to record information and also provide authentication for the user with the specific character recognition.As far as digital pen is concerned, it will allow the user to write in any free medium. Digital pen does not need any specific medium for writing.
1. In this project, we are going to make a pen that is capable of understanding human gestures and converting it into readable alphabets. We are going to use tri-axial accelerometer which is capable to detect all three-dimension x, y and z.
2. The sensor (tri-axial accelerometer) will be connected to an ESP32 microcontroller with built in Analog to Digital converter (ADC). ESP32 will convert the analog information from the sensor to digital information.
3. We are going to use a ESP32 Wi-Fi module for wireless transmission of these digital signal to our computing device which can be a computer or a smart phone.

4. These digital siginals will be moved to the firebase database where they are processed through machine learning character recognition algorithm and then the final output will be shown on the computer or phone screen.

Project Objectives

The development of the portable device that can be used to generate commands by hand motions to control electronic devices without space limitations.The development and implementation of a short and efficient algorithm that tries as much as possible to model human perception.

1. Education : 

                    This project will help in educating the primary level students for the recognition of charactaers by holding pen in their hands. In this way, they will not only learn but also enojys the process of character writing.

2. Security:

                  The digital pen will record the patterns of human writing. This will help in  advanced banking system for security purposes. This will bring a new change in the banking security system.  

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We will develop an “Digital Pen” that will convert the digital information into understandable text.

The sensor (triaxial acceleometer) will acquit the x y and z coordinates of the pen while moving in the air and then the ESP32 module will transfer the data wirelessly to the firebase data base system where  the data will process through the machine learning algorithm and then the will output will be displayed in the application.
