The product is a modified version of sticks or canes already being used by blinds to help them walk around. The product described will help the users to conveniently walk around independently by helping them to identify obstacles or any other objects in their way. The smart stick will guide the user through GPS navigation, speech warning message, ultrasonic sensors and moisture sensor.

Project Objectives

The blinds can walk independently and reach to their destination  with ease by using smart stick. They will be more confident because their disability will be no more disability to some extent they have an artificial eye with them. they can go to educational institues and offices easily and independently. 

Project Implementation Method

  • Obstacle at the left, right, and front are recognized by the ultrasonic sensors. once the object is recognized the speech warning message alert the blind and give right directions through GPS module to the blind.
  • Ultrasonic sensor placed at the base of the stick for pothole detection. once the pothole recognized the speech message alert the user from around 40 cm of the distance.
  • Moisture sensor is placed at the bottom of the stick for the detection of any moistue or water puddle. Once the moisture is detected the speech warning message alert the blind.
  • Artificial intelligence (Tensor flow algorithm) is applied through which the objects are first trained and then recognized by the method image processing.
  • Tensor flow  dataflow graphs are displayed
  • Raspberry pi is used as a processor.
