Project Summary

First of all, we chose this project to overcome the problems and increase the efficiency of existing poultry farms, after doing research and industrial visits we designed the smart poultry farm in Solid works and then we fabricated the project according to the size of the designed model, shortly project includes the Automatic Feeding(through auger system) and watering system, proper ventilation, and humidification by using AHU, removal of waste by a conveyor system, proper lightning system, the energy source is Solar energy and incubator for chicks projection in the proper environment.

Project Objectives

  • Our aim is to get familiar with this modern technology, gain knowledge, and to present a model on small scale.
  • To monitor and maintain a healthy environment for poultry birds(chicken) on the farm.
  • To automate the poultry farm in the aspect of :

Feeding

Watering

Ventilation

Incubation and

Manure removal system.

  • Achievement of sustainable development goals.

Project Implementation Method

Our method of implementation is to make a model of a poultry farm that contains all the components in small size ( as it is the only model) that will be required if someone wants to make a real poultry farm by using our model, they will just need to scale it up and they are ready to go.

Benefits of the Project

The benefits of the project are mentioned below:

  • The main purpose and benefit is that it will increase the efficiency of the poultry farm and it will save the time of production.
  • Fewer labor requirements as it is automatic.
  • Decrease in the mortality rate of poultry birds because of clean water, proper feeding(auger) system, and healthy environment(by using AHU).
  • Mass production will effectively increase.
  • Usage of renewable (solar energy) will save electricity consumption.
  • An automatic incubation system will provide the proper environment for the eggs for the birth of healthy chicks.
  • Gain knowledge about the field of automation. Also, gain experience in the practical life of designing and fabrication.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The idea of smart poultry farm will replace traditional farm to intelligent farm that provides quicker and accurate information about poultry farming. Smart monitoring of different parameters like temperature, light, humidity, gas etc. using sensors that helps to make it smart.

The project we designed focuses on automatic feed distribution and environment monitoring in the poultry farm. But it can be enhanced further so the poultry farm be totally automated. It may include automatic cleaning technologies, regular visual monitoring of the farm and much more according to need.

Technical feasibility is concerned with the availability of technology required and technical expertise on the field. The hardware requirement for this project are Arduino Mega, Temperature sensor (DHT11), PC Fan (12 V), PTC thermistor (12 V), water pump(8-12V), dc motors and motor driver. which are easily available in the market. The project requires the knowledge of basic Arduino programming and hardware knowledge.

The tentative time period for the completion of the project is about two months and it is possible to complete the project within that period of time.

TWO Pipe in a cage;

One Water Pot.

2 Nipples connected to pipes.

CAGE STAND:

Cage Stand length (4.5 ft), Width (2ft), height 1.33 ft

CONVEYER BELT SYSTEM:

Consist of one belt for throwing chicken shit outside.

Belt 1 under cage (Length 6 ft, Width 2 ft)

OUTSIDE ROOM DIMENSION:

Length 5 ft, Width 3 ft, Height 4 ft 

AIR HANDLING UNIT (AHU): 

Duct System (Consist of four opening).
