SMART MILK DISPENSING UNIT
Project Area of Specialization Mechatronics EngineeringProject SummaryPakistan among in the top countries of the world with 42 million tones production of milk every year but remains far below in exports of dairy products. This is all due to our traditional method. The traditional method of selling milk is very unhygienic because people use impure water to mix in milk, sometimes their hands dip in milk. They don’t wear gloves on their hands and bacteria is everywhere which spoil the milk and injurious to health. That’s why traditional method is not accurate.
In current days the manual process of milk dispensing is time consuming, less accurate (in terms of fluid quantity measurement) and requires more manpower. It is also difficult to meet the hygienic requirements. Moreover, the milk must be maintained at a temperature of 0 to 4 degrees Centigrade otherwise it will begin to show the signs of spoilage. This project focusses on the solution of these problems by automating the dispensing process. Automatic milk dispense is an IoT based project through which the vendor can easily monitor the sales process.
Project ObjectivesAim and Objectives:
The aim of this project is to design an IoT based automatic milk dispensing machine which monitors the sales activity and updates it online. Following are the objectives of this project.
- Quantity and quality control
- Flow control
- Temperature control
- IoT based monitoring
- Artificial intelligent system for currency note
Live streaming for security purpose
Project Implementation MethodMethodology:
Dispensing machine automatically maintains the temperature of the liquid in container through a temperature sensor. The temperature sensor controls the compressor used for refrigeration. A keypad is placed on the machine through which the data is entered for controlling the quantity of the milk. For this purpose, a flow control valve sensor is used which controls the flow of the fluid by accurately measuring either the volumetric flow rate or mass flow rate. An LCD is also placed which displays the price of the milk being dispensed. An online app will be developed through which all the data can be sent to the owner of the milk shop. This data includes the total amount of milk drawn out from the container and the total money earned. Thus, the proposed method of automating the milk dispensing process curtails the human intervention which makes the process more accurate, hygienic and economical. And also, we make a server to send the information of current status of milk, the price, quantity and temperature of multiple dispensing machines to the owner of the machines. And we use camera live streaming for security purpose and safety of the station. The major function of this machine, it collects money from the customer and return change back to customer after giving desire amount of milk. We done this thing by using artificial intelligent and machine vision system.
This system recognizes the cash note and after that cut down the desire amount and return other amount of cash to customer.so, there is no need of cashier. For the purpose of hygiene, a sterilization mechanism also embedded in this machine. This is a general block diagram view of milk dispensing machine.
Benefits of the ProjectFollowing problems raised due to manual milk dispensing techniques are;
- Time consumption: The process is quite time consuming as the human operators are not as efficient as machines.
- Temperature maintenance: If stored above 40° F, milk will begin to develop signs of spoilage, including sour odor, off-flavor and curdled consistency. To avoid this condition, we develop a cooling system which make the fluid thinner.
- Human effort: At least 3-4 workers are required for the manual process. Moreover, the chances of corruption in the sales process also increase.
- Inaccurate quantity measurement: the tools and utensils used for quantity measurement are not 100% efficient.
- Hygienic factor: Workers usually don’t use gloves and face mask which makes the process unhygienic. We develop a sterilization system for cleaning purpose.
- IoT based: current status of milk and condition of machine is checked by internet app. Also, milk level in container is monitored by internet. We develop an alarming message service.
- Currency note: people bluff the cashier with wrong bank note. In order to eliminate this thing, we develop an Artificial intelligent system. This system checks the notes accurately and works like cashier.
