Smart Lock System

Project Objectives

The smartphone activated door lock is one of the system that can be used at any door easily. This project aims to create an alternative method for those who always forget to lock the door or for those who worry about losing their door keys by replacing house keys with android phone.Besides that, this project also helps to provide security to your home by the
help of secure code that restrict the intruders to harm your house. Live stream provides you information about who wants to enter your home. Also, you can Lock/Unlock your door from anywhere anytime.

Project Implementation Method

Basically the door could be unlocked by different features including pin password,fingerprint sensor and Bluetooth connectivity. There is a database for setting pin passwords and fingerprints for authentic users of the house. We are using Raspberry Pi 3b+ as a Microcontroller which is placed on door. There is a camera placed on the door connected to Raspberry pi 3 b+ and for a user, we have an android application so a user can watch his/her door anywhere anytime via 24 hour live camera monitoring. Raspberry pi 3 b+ module has built-in Bluetooth so a user can have a keyless access to door by connecting his/her androids Bluetooth to Microcontroller. The android application is based on android studio having all information regarding owner of the house or an authentic user. Fingerprint print sensor has database for the finger prints of authentic users and it will also placed on the door. Live notifications will be there having messages ‘door is locked’ or ‘door is unlocked’. There will be separate passwords for guests.The mechanical part of the door is lock which we are using is electric lock the Microcontroller is place on the door and a user has application connected to that Microcontroller.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Along with the enabled Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, the Raspberry Pi is connected with the 3.5 inches touch screen LCD, a camera module called as PiCam, and a finger print sensor. An android application is also developed for the system. There is a database “MariaDB” that contains single or multiple admin(s) and is connected with the raspberry Pi and Android Application by the help of a server.As someone arrives at the door, he/she has to enter the pin in case of admin or request the required admin in case of the guest. After checking the authentication of the pin entered or accepting the request of a guest the message “WELCOME” appears on the screen and at the same time a notification generated to the admin saying “Somebody is at the door.”
If the admin arrives at the door and he is connected to lock by Bluetooth than by just entering into the range of Bluetooth the door will be unlocked and generates message both on screen and to admin.The admin can also use his/her finger prints as the input. From the above options no matter what the input is the mechanism remains the same. At first the input is sent to the server than the server compares the input from the database, if the input matches than the door will be
unlocked and the message generated at both screen and app, but if the input doesn’t match from the database than an error message will occur at both screen and the app.
