Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryIn this paper, we present a comprehensive survey about Flying Ad-hoc Networks (FANETs) with its key issues, challenges, motivations and also future research directions. FANET also known as Unmanned Aerial Ad-hoc Network (UAANET) in which the nodes move from one place to another without human personnel. Basically, the nodes are Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) that are operated from the ground station or by some predefined approaches. The nodes of FANET fly in the air simultaneously by using a swarm mechanism in which one UAV is controlled by another UAV and so on. This paper focuses on a broad survey about this network. Along with that, this paper also investigates the existing technologies for UAANET for future implementation and to check which one is the most appropriate for this network.
