Increase in maneuverability of shoulder fired surface to air missile through modification in structure and control canards

In this project we will use computational engineeeing techniques to analyze the efextof different canard's sizes on the maneuverability and range of the missile. We will compare results to optimise the size of canards that will provide  maximum maneuverability and minimum decrease in range.

Project Title

Increase in maneuverability of shoulder fired surface to air missile through modification in structure and control canards

Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject Summary

In this project we will use computational engineeeing techniques to analyze the efextof different canard's sizes on the maneuverability and range of the missile. We will compare results to optimise the size of canards that will provide  maximum maneuverability and minimum decrease in range.

Project Objectives

1- design different modified canards for different case studies to increase maneuverability of missile  with constraints on CP, CG and range.

2- optimization of designs until required increase in maneuverability is achieved.

3- CFD analysis of designed canards to estimate aerodynamic coefficients

Project Implementation Method

CFD analysis using ANSYS

Benefits of the Project

1- the generalised CFD framework of the optimized missile can serve as a standard for future works and researches to be conducted on missile to set their profile in accordance to achieve specific maneuverability.

2- A research paper can be written based on the tasks done to validate and verify the results.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

1- location of canards should be reremain same

2- mininum preferably no change in CP and range of missile

3- no change in CG of missile

4- project is given to us by KRL
