Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryThe game called “A Series of Unpredictable Events” will be developed keeping in mind the possible players and users of the game. Its main purpose is to provide that escape from the harsh reality of life, and give them that alone time they deserve. Being students, we recognize the need to take a break and relax every once in a while. And so, our proposed game will serve that purpose. The player will be able to create a personal account for themselves and customize the character according to their own will. The only constraint that the player would face is having a secure internet connection while backing up the game files to Google Play Cloud server.
The game we are proposing is going to have such a storyline which will keep the player completely immersed in the game due to how engaging and interactive it is. The player will have to deal with various stages using his analyzing skills and fast thinking abilities to solve the difficulties thrown at him. The storyline will be designed in such a way that the user relates to it but also provides that escape from reality. The story of our game is that a student goes to the university it is the student’s first day and it has it’s orientation that day, during the orientation the student gets bored and wanders off, and then the student spots a chemistry lab and goes inside the lab and that the student gets sucked down into a different dimension. The game will be designed on Unity3d. This game will not have many modules as it is pretty simple and basic.
Project ObjectivesOur objectives of this project are:
- Our main aim is to create an awareness of serious game development in not only
our university, but on an industry level as well.
- Game development is often discouraged and not taken as seriously as it should be.
It would also enhance creativity and performance skills of the students.
- Our objective is also for the young and adult to enjoy the game and feel relaxed from
their daily life routine. They should be able to distract themselves from their daily
rut of life.
- The game will be a single player adventure game.
- Encouraging students to step out of their comfort zone and try to not do the generic
- Android system projects.
- Creating a game that is tailored and customized to our personal likes and dislikes,
with our personal favorite features.
- The goals of this specific project are that to create something which is basically easy to use, pick up and play the game and the game could be played by all ages
These are the following implementation constraints that are kept in our mind during development of our project
- Mobile game application is developed for Android OS.
- Unity3d is used for the development of the game.
- Google Firebase is used for managing database specification
- OS required for the project is windows 7 or higher
- Development Tool: Unity3d, Visual Studio, Drawing Tablet, Spriter Pro, GIMP,Piskel.
- Programming Languages: C#
The world of game development is ever expanding, and it will remain to do so as technology progresses. In Pakistan, however, the case is not quite the same. The game development ‘scene’ here is still in its infancy. Work is being done which can be considered as progress in this regard with the advent of professional game development academies and international game conferences. All things considered, there is still much left before we reach a consistent state. One factor that plays a major role in this sad state of affairs is the increase in ‘bootlegged’ games. Games that are unlicensed copies of other popular games. In harsher words: rip-offs. Moreover, the majority of smartphone games are the fun and addictive type. They lack the sort of attachment one would make with a game that is fun and addictive AND has a good story (even if its linear). This is most likely because story-based games require a lot of dedication in designing the aspects of the environment and characters and how it all ties into the story.
Keeping the above statements in mind, the solution towards our goal to make a game is to provide the player with a game that is fun to play AND that gives them something to remember after they are finished with it. The story of our game will appeal to a wide age group, children and adults alike, which will allow us to maximize our audience. For this to come to fruition, we will be making our own game assets, from character designs to sound effects. This would also give us the opportunity to dip our toes into the shallow waters of the Pakistani video game industry, and maybe, just maybe set a precedent for more original game ideas to follow.
