Project Title

Robotic glove for rehabilitation of patients

Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary

Stroke affects 750,000 individuals per year and 80% of stroke residue suffer from the stroke effect. Repeated movement of the hand is also used as a rehabilitation technique to collect hand and excellence movement. In order to make this rehabilitation possible, a robotic glove is designed to help rehabilitate and organize the work. To open and shut a user's side, a cable device is used. Servomotors pull wires, placed on a 13.2lbs backpack. The glove can be calculated by switch interface, software program or myoelectric signal with respect to the finger position and grip strength. This development constructs an operational model of the soft mechanical reconstructive glove which activates the fingers through a broad range of moves at one level at a time and produces extremely 15N holding power.

Project Objectives

Our project's fundamental goal is to provide repetitive extension, exercise and assistance to people with small hand functions due to their neurological disabilities, such as the loss of motor control in the hand of stroke and spinal card injuries, which can exceptionally deviate from their personal satisfaction. This robotic handle design will also allow for a range of therapeutic levels and also fundamental mechanical support in terms of the flexion and extension grip.

Main purpose of this robotic glove is to perform four type of rehabilitation:

  1. Orthopedic

  2. Physiotherapy

  3. Neurology

  4. Stroke

Project Implementation Method Benefits of the Project

Major benefit of project in medical field for stroke patients.

Benefit for the patient whose left hand paralyze by spinal card injury.

We find benefits in departments like

Neurology

Neurosurgery

Orthopedic

Rehabilitation

Physiotherapy

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Every year 750,000 persons are highly influenced by a brain destructive stroke. By this effect, there are 80% chances of losing body’s one side. This resulting deficiency is known as paralysis.. Current funds are expensive and are essentially given by health may experts inside a clinic or clinical office. In addition to specialist care, the gadgets designed for users are typically massive or inaccessible tabletop devices – giving a real challenge to the user. The project plan to develop a soft glove that can wear the position and use it to achieve performance.

An electronic glove contour was designed to drive a cable finger pass. By routine plastic guidelines Kevlar cables were connected via a textile glove. The wires pass through plastic tubes, as connected by Bowden, to the manuals. These cables are connected with the fingertips of the boxing glove on the one hand and the servo motors on the other (Figure 1). In either bending or expansion, the servomotors retain the spins that curve the connecting line into the finger. The control panel is designed by a computer MSP430 and is suitable for the present limitation of service motors.

Various types of glove management techniques, including swapping, programme design and EMG managing, have been performed. For user recovery, this digital glove can be executed critically. Switch mode assigns the branch and retain direct power and force control. The programmable control type helps a psychotherapist to build a practice scheme the user can start at another time.  The myoelectric monitor allows the user, if willing, to activate the glove and also to give support or impediments preferences. The assist will increase the power to transfer the consumer (open or close hand). The glove may also provide resistance along various paths to assist the consumer in console scent revolution or in muscle tone practice. The aim of this model is to develop a prototype glove tool to open the patient's hand and close it. For a number of consumers, the project of this glove, like the stroke stay, may be carried out.
