The catalyst behind the development of Real time health monitoring system for first responder emergency operation is to decrease the health care cost and the continuous health monitoring of the firefighter, bomb disposal squad and even for common man. It measures Electrocardiography (ECG), body temperature, pulse rate, location and fall detection of the user and their results are sent to Android Application through 3G technology. It also classifies the type of fall detection in slips, trips, left lateral and right lateral. With the help of this ECG, temperature measuring shirt and fall classification belt, firefighter’s monitoring can be done at work and result will be sent to doctor or in case of hospital of the patients can be performed. This shirt and belt is also very useful for epileptic patients as well as elder. Apart from them if there are any hint of heart and blood vessel sickness like Heart attack or something to the patient of any age then results are sent to doctor and doctor can instruct the precautionary measures which can be taken in order to lessen the damage while bringing patient to the hospital.

Project Objectives

The objective of project is design and develop hardware for five distinctive biomedical instrumentation devices and then assemble them into a solitary and interface the complete module with arduino programming to achieve a portable system for users.

 These are the objective of this project: 
1: Smart health monitoring system and effective real time        application for first responders. In a form of wearable shirt.

2: Classification of fall.

3: Study of fall detection algorithms and their performance analysis.

4: Efficiency analysis of fall detection algorithms.

5: Developing an android applications showing measured readings. (sender side and reciever side).

6: Interfacing the hardware and software to achieve a desirable portable system 

Project Implementation Method

The project is divided in three stages.

In first stage, ECG signal is receive from the human body with the help of AD8232 .LM35 temperature sensor would measure body temperature. SEN-11574 is use to monitor pulse rate in beats per minute.

In the second stage Cleaned Amplified ECG signal, pulse rate, temperature, pulse rate monitored value is fed to the Arduino UNO.

Third stage is developing mobile applications. All the values of the sensors will forward to sender mobile application using Bluetooth module. Using 3G wireless mobile telecommunications technology transfer all data to receiver mobile application. Mobile application display results.

Benefits of the Project

1: Real time health monitoring system Shirt could help firefighter, bomb disposal squad and many other people to monitor their health status without going to hospital or some other medicine based places and in case of hospitals, it would help in continuous monitoring of their health status during rescuing.

2: Real time health monitoring system could help to detect and classify the fall. Falls data are represented in four different types of falls (slip-backward, trip-forward, left and right lateral) while subjects were wearing accelerometers on a belt. This belt will be helpful for the doctor to examine the body part to side of the fall instead to examine whole body.  

3:In case of area away from the city, where well helped hospitals are not available or they cannot afford ECG  machine, ECG can be checked with the help of this shirt and doctor can guide how to treat the patient at first stage before bringing the patient to the nearest town.  

4: To develop Android Application which shows measured readings from the shirt and belt on the Smart Phone so that readings of the sensors and the devices of the monitoring system can be seen on your Mobile Phone and the measured values can be sent to the doctor.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The project is to design modules and organize them on a shirt to make it wearable,which consumes low power and low cost relative to large machines in hospitals. 

We will submit Shirt which measures ECG, body temperature, motion, heart rate. And displays the results on android phone.ECG signal is receive from the human body with the help of AD8232 .Two electrode are  place under left and right clavicle near respective shoulder. Third one is  place on left side beneath pectoral muscles bring down edge of left rib cage.LM35 temperature sensor would measure body temperature. SEN-11574 is use to monitor pulse rate in beats per minute.Cleaned Amplified ECG signal, pulse rate, temperature, pulse rate monitored value is fed to the Arduino UNO.. All the values of the sensors will forward to sender mobile application using Bluetooth module. Using 3G wireless mobile telecommunications technology transfer all data to receiver mobile application. Mobile application display results. 9V batteries are used to power up the circuit.
