Power Sharing Smart Grid System using Networked Hybrid Invertors
Many researches are being conducted on smart grid systems to supplement available power supply with renewable sources. The project intends to solve this particular problem by coupling renewable energy sources and energy sharing with the grid and use it to serve surplus units that the grid fails to serve. The project is designed to work in a networked environment where all consumers have connected hybrid inverters controlled via specialized software connected through internet or LAN that share their load requirement status and consequently share their available power. All of this working is monitored by a control unit which is communicating with other stations at all times. The two-way meter will keep the track of power coming from the main grid as well as the power going to the main grid. In addition to that, an application based controlling will be a part of the project which will allow maximum control of energy flow from grid to the load. The consumer will enjoy online payment and consumption monitoring in real time using application based online platform.
The power deficiency will be overcome using this power sharing system. It will also help in reducing the power cost and fulfilling the demand and also allow user to sell the surplus energy produced by their solar panels to grid.
The proposed system is a smart grid system that charges the batteries using photovoltaic cells. The power from the batteries is synchronized with the power from grid, matching their amplitude, frequency and phase. Synchronization is done by detecting zero crossing. The excess power generated by the system is fed into the grid lines. Net metering is done to measure the power fed into the grid lines, so that points can be earned for generating power. This surplus power is used to by the other units that demand more power. Surplus power is supplied to the prior units, that is based on the generation capacity and contribution with the grid. Microcontrollers are used to perform this task. An android application is created to display power/energy to and from community.
The project help in lowering the use of electricity produced by non-renewable sources by replacing it with the electricity produced by renewable sources. It will also help to consume the surplus energy of another unit rather than increasing its own production.
