Physiological Monitor
There is severe lack of diagnostics and monitoring equipment in Pakistan Health Centers. Monitoring and diagnostics equipment is needed for all age groups. Physiological parameters like heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen content are very important for patient management.
We propose to work on development of a physiological monitor especially tailored for Pakistan. We will first do detailed studies to come up with a Target Product Profile. We also plan to develop proof of concept hardware.
The objective of the project is to improve dismal health conditions of population of Pakistan by provision of modern technology tailored especially to real world conditions and limiations of Pakistan.
The project will be executed by simultaneously performing various tasks.
1. Generation of TPP by detailed analysis of real situation and requirements analysis by working with healthworkers.
2. Analysis, Modelling and Simulations : This may include optical progression simulations, human physiological modelling and optimization mechanisms to improve signal to noise ratio.
3. Hardware Development and Data Gathering
The project, if successful can pave a way towards development of an extemely important piece of equipment which is needed at pretty much any health center in Pakistan.
Since the project will guide towards a product for Pakistan, we hope that it will not require many things which are required by equipment available from abroad at expensive rates. Examples are ease of use and operation by healthcare staff with minimal training.
The Final Deliverables are
1. Target Product Profile : This will describe which system would likely work in real world conditions and not only in a well equipped hospital with trained manpower.
2. Analysis, Modelling and Simulation : Various techniques for estimating performance of various configurations and optimization.
3. Proof of Concept Hardware : Proof of concept hardware will be developed. Effort will be made to get real patient data as well.
