Project Summary

This is the era of smartphones that includes Android app development for every business. A great number of Android users are present all around the world because smartphones are handy and less time-consuming. At GC Women’s University Sialkot, the process of submitting the applications is manual. That led to the displacement of the application by management and a lack of privacy of user applications. Sometimes users forgot to add necessary information while applying. We have built an online android app for students and faculty, they can easily access and submit applications at any time using the internet. All user’s applications are private and only related competent authorities see the user’s application. Competent Authorities can approve applications at an official time using the internet. It is a less time-consuming and effective approach than a manual system.

Project Objectives

The use of technology is increasing day by day, but submitting the application to our university is manual. Due to the increase in demand for technology we have shifted the process of submitting the application online at our university. The user can submit the application at any time using the internet. The main objective of our project is to make application submission, and tracking status easier for users, make sure the monitoring, and updating status of applications easier for Competent Authority.

The app will focus on the following goals/objectives:

• To make applications easier to monitor and resolve.
• Provide approved templates for user applications.
• Make the writing process easy for users.
• Reduce paperwork. Save time and human effort.
• Provide a medium through which authorized personnel can attend applications of users from any location.
• Notify the user about his/her application’s current status.
• Maintenance/ record keeping of all applications will be easy.
• Personally identifiable information about an individual will not be disclosed to everyone.

Project Implementation Method

We have developed this project according to the instructions of the university and applied V-Model in the development phase. 

We had followed these steps while project development:

Benefits of the Project

The benefit of this app is that users can submit the application by just editing the given template and attaching relevant documents if required, but internet connectivity is compulsory. This would save the time for users to visit the university and manually submit the application. The competent authority can also view and update the status of the application from anywhere within the official period using the internet. They are not restricted to visiting the university for application monitoring and giving the appropriate response to the specific user. Users also get notifications related to the status update of their application. It also ensures the privacy of applications and reduces paper and file work.

This project's basic aim was to shift the manual submission of the application to online. The deliverable product  included the android app that is specially designed for GCWUS. This project provided ease in application submission and helps the competent authority to update the status of applications. The project had  included:
