Project Summary

A number of problems have been observed in routine life which render the cooking appliances or domestic stove into a dangerous device. These problems limit functionality as well as convenience on daily basis. Thus, a solution is much needed to resolve these issues.

 Methodology of the project circumambulates around using Smart phones to monitor and control the functionality and switching of stove. Automatic utility-based dimming in absence of utensil and automatic shut-off in scenario of gas leakage is intended to be achieved in order to save valuable fuel assets, its leakage, delinquent wastage and deadly consequential fire.

Project Objectives

To keep our house, family and children safe is our first priority. These are the reasons for which we struggle throughout our life. Due to our negligence, immense incidents occur. We often fail to observe the leakage of flammable gas in our home. And sometimes either gas is left open or we forget to shut it off by getting busy in other works. Sometimes we set burner on and due to load sheading fire goes out, after a few minutes gas reappears and start filling our kitchen. If the consumer is absent from the site or has missed to close the gas valve, gas leaks and may set house on fire. Another problem is wastage of valuable fuel. Again, we lit burner and cooked something then we left kitchen or take break of 10 to 15 minutes, leaving the burner on just for saving a match-stick.

Project Implementation Method

Stove will be paired with smart phone to perform specific actions like switching on/off the burner valve, setting up the timer for burner etc. Interrupts sent by a mobile will be received through internet using Wi-Fi module, which will transmit that information to microcontroller. Microcontroller will take action against interrupt came from the smart phone. Wi-Fi module will also communicate with smart phone over internet to notify about emergency situations and actions taken by the controller. Timer will be set both by using smart phone and manual buttons. Gas leakage will be detected by gas sensor, which will directly communicate with controller to perform emergency actions. Controller will shut-off main valve and on the same time alarm will set on. If gas sensor detects fuel gas in environment bell will alarm and main valve of stove will set off. To reduce gas wastage proximity sensor will detect utensils over burner and send interrupt to microcontroller in specific circumstances according to which microcontroller will take actions.

By launching this product, we will not even be able to provide comfort and mental relaxation to our valuable customers and will also ensure the security of their beloved one by those immense incidents occurred by gas leakage and house on fire due to stoves. This project is a product and can grow as a business.
