Project Summary

Nowadays research on multicopter is rapidly growing in many fields of application like border surveillance, photography, agriculture and atmosphere studies. Especially in military applications it saves money and lives of soldiers compared to manned military aircraft. One of the problems in the multicopter application is the ability to lift a heavy load that requires the careful design and selection of the proper type of multicopter for its ability in carrying out the missions involving the heavy load lifting. One type of multicopters that is often used is hexacopter. This project describes the design of hexacopter that lift a heavy load of 10 kg. The design is done by calculating and analyzing the constraints and the criteria by the aid of software. The first flight experiment proved the capability of the designed heavy-lift hexacopter to fly in stable attitude while carrying a heavy load.

Project Objectives

  • Design and manufacturing a hexacopter which is able to lift 10 kg weight.
  • Analyze the model of main frame statically in ansys software 

Project Implementation Method

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) becomes famous within the world of science due to its numerous applications during this life like search and rescue, monitoring, firefighting, police investigation, agriculture, aerial photography and others.

Benefits of the Project

  • It can easily carry weights upto 12 kg.
  • This project is cost effective than market makers and has better results of weighting and stability.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

This project has able to design, analysis and constructs heavy-lift hexacopter that is capable of flying and lifting the payload of 10 kg. In testing the heavy-lift hexacopter is also capable of moving maneuver in roll, pitch and yaw.  Flight time is 9 minutes with two units (10400 MAH) of batteries. Heavy-lift hexacopter is also able to fly by lifting the different types of payload. Future research that is done in the future is to control the heavy-lift hexacopter is autonomous.
