Internet of Things (IoT) is currently an emerging technology spread globally. Internet of Things (IoT) is formulated to remotely connect, access, monitor, and control the existent world entities through the Internet. When the IoT is conceptualized towards home, it converts simple home to smart home which is safer and automated. In this project, a Voice/Text controlled Home Application will be developed where the users can remotely access the home appliances. The users can merely provide voice commands or text messages through which they will be able to turn the appliances ON or OFF depending upon the necessity. The users can schedule the status of the appliances when they are not physically present in the environment. They will also be provided with the information regarding the previous schedules, and they can also turn on the appliances for a specific period of time. This application will be greatly consistent and proficient for elderly people and differently-abled people who cannot reach the switch, for switching ON/OFF the device.
Project ObjectivesThis project will be designed to use voice recognition technology to control home utilities i.e. light, fan & TV, etc.
• The aim is to use IoT technology for people of all ages, gender, and even with some disabilities to enjoy life in a more pleasant way.
• Google voice recognition facility will be utilized to input voice.
• Android phone will be used for the application software which will be connected to the google voice command input.
• Application software will be responsible for converting the voice command into text format.
The methodology of this project design includes the implementation of the proposed method. There are some basic steps involving in the Methodology of the product. The first major step is setting up the Adafruit IO. Adafruit IO is a website used to create virtual switches that will be turned ON or OFF depending on the commands given to the Google Assistant and the second step is connecting the ESP8266 and the last step is connecting to Google assistant through IFTTT. IFTTT is also a website used to create a simple chain of conditional statements for like if-else statements. By following these three steps, the implementation of the proposed system will be done. Basically, it is a simple methodology format that we are intended to follow, which involves not only software development but also, its practical implementation with the hardware of the project.

IoT Based Home Automation System through Voice Recognition is a project that is an integrated system with mobile phone (application) to give the facility to the elderly and the disabled people so that they can easily control home utilities fully Based on their phone through voice command. The device will be built in such a way that it can easy to carry, install, configure, run and maintain for the non-technical person. Home automation involves introducing to connect certain electrical devices that are used in a home. The microcontroller is the main part of this project. The voice command will be taken from the microphone of the mobile or the pc and then pass to the Arduino. After the Arduino will execute the command then it passes to the relay board to turn the utilities on or off accordingly. Light, fan, or TV are turned on/off as the relay board is turned on or off.
