Project Summary

GPS-enabled interactive shoes integrates hardware and software technologies engineered directly into the soles for continuously detecting and guiding the user with right direction and relevant feedback. The smart shoes may provide path finding services to the visually impaired people and tourists who are visiting a new location. The proposed smart shoes are connected to google map and provide correct direction using GPS and haptic feed-back system (vibration). There is a chip in the shoes that is connected to the mobile app. The user sets the destination through app and a connection is set up between app and the shoes. The shoes will guide the user to the right direction and there will be no need to check the mobile frequently. The shoes will work as if there is a left turn in our way the left shoe will vibrate. If the user is moving in the wrong direction, both shoes will vibrate at the same time.

Project Objectives

  • First of all, to facilitate the visually impaired people as they are also the part of our society by providing them these smart shoes as they guide them to reach their exact location by using Google maps GPRS System.
  • Secondly, to guide tourists as they visit any new place, they have to hold their mobile all the time till they reached their location which is very irritating thing for them as they have to keep an eye on their path to being on correct path.
  • Thirdly, it will keep an eye on the health of the person who is wearing this smart device   by constantly informing him about the body blood pressure how much steps did he walked ,what is his heart beat rate and the person’s weight.

Project Implementation Method

  • In this project we are going to use IR Sensor to detect the obstacle in the path (infrared sensor is an electronic sensor that measures infrared light rad acle is going to become closer and closer to the person.

  • We will use ultrasonic sensor that will measures the distance of an object using ultrasonic sound waves. An ultrasonic sensor uses a transducer to send and receive ultrasonic pulses that relay back information about an object's proximity.

  • Laser scanners will be used to scan the path on which the person is walking and provide a road map for correctly making of decision about obstacles.
  • Computer vision will be used to see the object directly from the eyes of the machine and to verify the nature of object.
  • Active sensors (sensors that use the energy from electrical sources for measurement of environment signals which transmitted by the sensor) will measure the output which is generated by others sensors.
  • Passive sensors (do not use the energy from electrical source for measuring environment signals) will generate the energy from its nature for correctly providing the others sensors based information.
  • Our smart shoe will detect the obstacle in the range of 5 meters, and alert by vibrating.
  • Simply connect your smartphone and Smartshoes using Bluetooth 4.0 control all feature via the mobile App.
  • Leveraging Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, shoes collects precisely accurate activity data through integrated hardware that is sent to your iOS or Android smartphone app for analysis. 
  • The shoes will incorporate a long life Lithium polymer battery in each shoe that are individually rechargeable by micro USB charging.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The user first download the smart shoe application for connecticity with shoe then on his mobile bluetooth and connect with the shoe through its bluetooth connectivity system .

The Smart shoes takes data from its sensors to interact and evaluate your walking activity through its app. ... This creates an intelligent shoe that analyzes complex sensor data through algorithms to provide simple, user-friendly  recommendations to its connected smartphone app. There is voice system that guide the user through voice and help them to navigate to their path without checking their phone again and again .we use Bluetooth air bud connectivity for clear understanding of voice .

  The shoe will provide the information about the steps that the user take , his body weight ,blood pressure and time (how much time passed since the user is walking). These all activities are provided on the app main screen.

  •  We put flexible LCD in our smart shoes.
  •  This shoes enhances the users knowledge.
  •   This smart shoes will became unique because we put LCD in it. LCD attached  with our application, in that way users can easily change themes according to  their taste. flexible HD screens which display images or video
