Project Summary

Saving power has become ever so more important than before as we use more and more of the limited resources on this earth. We fail to find an accurate embedded system which help us achieve true efficiency. We aim to design an accurate automated system through heat registry to detect body temperature that would save the effort from the user and save power by using a light sensor, while providing an extra layer of protection for the user through intruder detection, alas being truly efficient, safe, and fully automated.

Project Objectives

The objective is to

• Build an energy-efficient automated appliance system through heat sensory registry embedded with IoT and machine learning, Work together and ethically in data computation for improvement in quality of data and integrity Explore basic entrepreneurship skills paired with soft skills for the perfect execution of our plan and its timely management We strive to produce a project that would increase power saving along with automation making life easy and better making it easier to be the responsible humans that this earth asks to be. With this project we aim to incorporate our system with:

? Embedded System for correct computation of real-time measurement Analysis of data along with its computation for the increased accuracy and improved quality of the system Test run the machine for it learn on real-time data for the best results

Project Implementation Method

The basic methodology starts from the thermal imaging sensor measuring temperature with an immaculate refresh rate for a more accurate reading. These readings are then transferred over to a microcontroller which then compares these values to a designated data and makes a decision according to the conditions set. One of these conditions returns with a false and the state of the appliance, in this case, variable brightness LED) remains unchanged, if the condition comes back to be true, the microcontroller then asks for the current value of ambient lighting available in the room through a light sensor and yet again compare these to a designated data making the decision again according to the conditions set. This time the decision is made to turn on our LED, but according to the brightness stored according to the ambient light available. Our design contains a "Host away" mode which acts as a security layer, in this mode if the heat imaging sensor detects a presence, it gives a 20-sec silent delay to enter the passcode to disable the alarm, if not disabled it sends a text message to the pre-saved phone number through GSM alerting the host, along with a total darkness mode in which every LED goes dark with a blaring alarm.

Benefits of the Project

Our expected outcome of this project is an integrated system that automates the basic home into a smart house along with providing energy efficiency and security for ease of the user. In this era everyone strives to be a responsible citizen and do their part in reducing global warming, thus our proposed project helps the user consume fewer resources, brings reliability and effortless solution through just installation of the automated system which controls the power outlet to the appliances bringing a considerable decrease in power consumption saving money and making the user eco friendly. We aim to achieve more accurate automation through a heat sensor registry to detect the presence of a temperature variant object/ life being. This embedded system aims to achieve a bigger impact on reducing our resource consumption in overpopulated areas such as Karachi itself.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The applications for our proposed idea are numerous as they can be implemented in any sector, whether private or industrialised, what's more, this idea is adaptable to change making it universally applicable in any machine or other appliances through minor changes. For example, easily being implemented on an AC by adapting the code for room temperature changes and humidity levels. It is safe to say the applications are various and expandable.
