This applications aims to provide the help to every student of the society as nowadays every intermediate student is worried about their future. Sometimes their marks bound them to select a future field, or sometimes the Parents forces a student to select a certain field. Because of this the student selects a field according to the will of their Parents and friends in which they have no interest and after some time they lack behind in the studies and they give up in the middle of the sessions. Due to which they loss 2-3 years of their studies. Mostly students regret that they haven’t opted the carrier of their own choice. 

Sometimes peoples do not know their interest and apply for different fields thinking that at least in one of the field they will get admission. And as the brilliant students get selected in all fields and at the end they have to choose only one. By doing this the other willing students loss the chance of getting admission because of limited seats. This is very common problem as if the students know their interest; they will apply for a specific field providing chances for other students who are enthusiastic for that field.

In this application, we will solve the problems of student by giving recommendations to choose certain fields and universities .On the basis of certain features i.e. (Questions based analysis, favourite subjects, favourite books, academic marks, students choices and priorities etc.), the application finds the interest of students and recommends the best field to choose in future. The students interact with the app through some questions and activities which are related to all fields i.e. (computer sciences, political sciences, engineering, medical, arts, business, law, etc.). Then based on the results/analysis, the system will recommend the best field to choose in the future. And A suitable university will also be recommended on the basis of a university’s ranking, location, and fee structures. So that they apply to the most suitable universities.  In this way, the system will guide the student without wasting their time and currier.

Project Objectives

We are going to develop a system in which students can interact with system either registered user or guests user and will get facilitation of their interest analysis and suitable university according to the recommended field on the basis following features:

Rankings, Fee structure

The university will be recommended on the basis of fee structure and annual ranking of universities by  HEC

Location

Based on the location of students, the nearest university will also be recommended.

Ratings

The marks and rankings will be converted in scale like 0 to 5 or in 0.1 to 1.0. Different ratings will be given according to the converted scale. The recommender will be trained on the basis of these ratings.

  1. DATA COLLECTION:

The dataset will be required to train the system for recommending the fields to the students. And for the purpose of collecting data. The questionnaire surveys will be conducted which will be filled by the intermediate and undergraduate students.

For university recommendation, the data of ranking, fee structures, and location of a specific university will also be collected from teachers as well as HEC annual system rankings.

In order to add diversity in DATA SET, a countrywide survey will be conducted.

Project Implementation Method

1.Data Collection:

We collect data from different people around us:

1.1.From intermediate students:

Different questions are asked related to different fields, interests, hobbies, and habits. Cross questioning is done in order to find accurate student's interest in related fields.

At this level, we are covering 50 colleges from different cities. we will visit there and will collect data through questionnaires.

1.2 From universities students:

Different questions are asked related to different fields, interests, hobbies, and habits. Cross questioning is done in order to find accurate student's interest in related fields.

At this level, we are covering 20 universities from different cities. we will visit there and will collect data through questionnaires.

1.3.From teachers:

To get rankings of different universities a separate survey from teachers will also be conducted. Then those rankings will be compared with HEC rankings.

1.4.Online survey:

The online survey will also be conducted to achieve diversity in the DATA SET.

2.Data Set creation:

After data collection and data entry, the dataset will be created as it is the basic requirement in recommendation systems.

3. Website designing:

MeanWhile, website interface will be created through which students interact. Their login/signup sessions will be maintained after which they can fill the questions and find their interest. Also, a separate interface will be created for guests, in which they can see the basic information of different fields and, most trending fields are also recommended.

4.Recommendation System:

The collaborating filtering algorithms will be used for recommendation of different fields, universities: according to the fee structure, location, and rankings.

5.Website development :

Backend coding and database connectivity will be done. Data entered through questions will be processed by the recommendation system and the results will be displayed to the user. The interest report will also be delivered to the mailing address of the student.

6.Website deployment:

website will be deployed for internet users through domain hosting.

Benefits of the Project

Educational recommender system will work for the welfare of our society. This system will help the confused students of our country as they don't know what"s the right filed to choose for the future. 

Also, the university selection is the major problem in our society, we will also provide this facility. 

We will recommend the university on the basis of the fee structure.

The facility of top-ranked university recommendations will also be provided. The data will be collected from the teachers and students of the university. As their experience is closer to reality than HEC or anybody else

The student who wants to find the most nearby university or find a university that has a low fee can easily get the benefit from our services.

location-based university recommendations are very beneficial for females students as in our society there are limitations on females regarding traveling, hostelling, and etc.

Recommending the latest market trends and basic information about different fields to guest visitors to our website. 

The proposed system will save time and money of the students by providing timely facilitation of or their interest and interested field.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Project proposal:

The introduction,  scope, benefits, tools and technologies, modules,system limitations and constraints, future work and timelines of the project are mentioned in the project proposal. And a proper template of the project proposal was followed. 

The educational recommender system is now approved by the fyp evaluators.

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION (SRS document):

The requirement elicitation method and techniques, requirement analysis methods and techniques ,functional requirements , non-functional requirements will be written in proper requirement templates.

SOFTWARE DESIGN DESCRIPTIONS (SDD document):

The Design Methodology and software process models, System Overview (Architectural Design, Process Flow/Representation ), Design Models, Recommendation system, Algorithm & Implementation, Human Interface Design (user interface)will be described in detail.

complete software systems Deployment:

The First version of the Educational recommender system(a complete website) will be released after one year in which the 10 major fields(Bussiness, computer sciences, engineering, art , psychology and social working, medical, agriculture, D.pharmacy, political sciences) will be recommended to the students based on their interest. Afterward, the top 5 universities offering to every that recommended field will be recommended to the students.

FUTURE WORK:

In our future work, we will recommend interest-based jobs to graduated students along with field recommendations to intermediates, Bachelors's for their future studies.
