MPPT TRACKING OF PV SYSTEM
Context :
As we all know that world is changing drastically and knowing the short reserves of non-renewable energy resources and their devastating impact on environment people are now moving towards renewable energy resources such as wind electricity , hydro electricity , thermal energy , solar energy etc. and the most popular of these now a days is solar energy which is obtained by solar panels which itself is an combination of photovoltaic cells (PV cells ) these cells produce electricity through the radiation of sun .
Engineering Problem :
The International Energy Agency projected in 2014 that under its "high renewables" scenario, by 2050, solar photovoltaics and concentrated solar power would contribute about 16 and 11 percent, respectively, of the worldwide electricity consumption, and solar would be the world's largest source of electricity. Most solar installations would be in China and India.[3] In 2017, solar power provided 1.7% of total worldwide electricity production, growing 35% from the previous year. solar cell efficiency can reach 42% in some cases . This 42% efficiency means that the PV cell is not providing its full capacity and remembering the above figures in mind we have already lost a lot of solar energy.
Solutions :
So to counter this problem we aim to design a Maximum Power Point Tracking system for photovoltaic (PV) cells that utilized a converter . . MPPT is measuring the power of the solar panel at given intervals and making sure it is always at its maximum power. A measurement is taken from the PV cell and the power is calculated. After a specified interval, another measurement is taken. These two measurements are compared, and adjustments are made to the solar panel to ensure that the most recent measurement will lead to the maximum power.
Existing technology :
MPPT is not a new technology. Some companies have been designing solar trackers for years. Most solar trackers move with regard to the angle of the sun, and do not constantly calculate power. Linak, for example, has two different types of solar tracking systems that both use integrated control actuators. The solar panels can either move 180 degrees (single axis) or can tilt in all different angles using dual access
Solution :
But on the contrary what we are trying to design a converter that will obtain maximum power output from the PV cells without the help of actuators .

This project will lead to the new technology of manufacturing of DC to DC converters which will increase the energy obtained to its maximum value with the same existing system .
The International Energy Agency projected in 2014 that under its "high renewables" scenario, by 2050, solar photovoltaics and concentrated solar power would contribute about 16 and 11 percent, respectively, of the worldwide electricity consumption, and solar would be the world's largest source of electricity. This 42% efficiency means that the PV cell is not providing its full capacity and remembering the above figures in mind we have already lost a lot of solar energy.
By the new technology of DC to DC converters we can hike up this efficiency rate upto 85% to 90% which make a huge diffrence in the energy sector .
The factors which can cause problems to our project are as following :
