Project Title

Development of low cost and effective wearable tremor control device

Project Area of Specialization

Biomedical Engineering

Project Summary

In this project we aim to make a wearable glove which will suppress the hand tremors of any patient whether it is from parkinsons or essential tremors. Initially we plan on using the gyroscope for making the hands stable against the tremors. After that we will move on to MEMS force transducers to make the hands stable to make a compact design which will be easy to use.

Project Objectives

1. To make life easier for some people.

2. Suppress tremors.

3. Low cost solution for people.

4. Make healthcare devices easily available for people.

Project Implementation Method

  1. Research will done on presviously existing methods and the most suitable method will be selected.
  2. The requirements for manufacturing the devices will be met.
  3. The prototype will be made.
  4. Improvements in the initial design will be made.
  5. The device will be made economic.
  6. The device will be made effecient, portable and easy to handle.

Benefits of the Project

  1. Tremor Suppression gloves not easaily available in market.
  2. Healthcare advancement in pakistan.
  3. Approx 1 million people might benefit from it.
  4. Everyday life made easier for people with hand tremors.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

  1. The gyroscope when rotated fast conserves angular momentum. The force of this gyroscope will be used to conserve the angular momentum of the hand against sudden tremors. But it will allow voluntary stable movements. Next after that MPU6050 sensor will be used to record the movements and will be used as feedback. This device will be made into a glove which will be comfortable to wear an which can be used for long term purposes.
  2. In the 2nd Step we will move towards a device which will use force transducers to produce moments against the recorded tremor pattern. This will also be made into a form of glove and will be much more compact.
