Design and Fabrication of Manually Operated Multi Nozzle Pesticide sprayer
Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject SummaryIn order to provide a better alternative to traditional and traditional (scattering by hand) methods for dispersion of fertilizer a manually operated fertilizer spreader is designed and developed. In Pakistan majority of the population depends on agriculture even today around 61.5 % of ruler Pakistani population depends on agriculture for their bread and butter and agriculture also plays a vital role in GDP of Pakistan. To achieve the good yield of crops farmer uses fertilizers obviously. When the crops are grown farmers take intensive Care of these crops by using fertilizers and other things. Sometimes the crops are attacked by insects and pests. So pesticide spray is done by the farmers to control the pest and other insects so they don't harm the corps.
There are there are different types of spreaders aur sprayers some of them are as follows
- handheld sprayer
- drops sprayer
- rotatory fertilizer spreader
- liquid fertilizer spreader
Most of the areas where farmers don't have resources so they use manually operated or handheld spreaders which is more laborious, time-consuming and health hazardous. So this modern project that is designed by us is less time consuming and more comfortable and also it does not present any threat to health.
Project ObjectivesObjectives and Deliverables
- To design the frame for the placement of the tank and the pump
- To select the placement and size of nozzles
- To design the sprayer with proper adjustment facility with respect to crop size & height.
- To calculate the area covered with respect to the flow rate of pesticides and time
- To remove the weight carried by the worker on the back while spraying pesticides.
- To decrease labor cost by advancing the spraying method.
- To increase the efficiency of spraying.
- Mild Steel
- Wheel
- Sprocket
- Crank
- Crank Arm
- Knapsack Pump
- Nuts and bolts
- Chain
- Nozzles
- Pipe
The working of this manually operated multi nozzle pesticides sprayer pump is based on the principles of motion transmission due to chain and sprocket arrangement and slide crank mechanism
•The operator grabs the handle and pulls the trolley forward.
• As trolley moves forward, the wheel rotates in anti-clockwise direction.
•As sprocket is mounted on same shaft of wheel, it also rotates in anticlockwise direction.
• This motion is transferred to crank via chain drive arrangement and crank rotates anticlockwise as well.
• This will reciprocate the piston via connecting rod and builds up the pressure.
• During the upward motion of the connecting rod the pesticide is drawn into the pump and during the downward motion of connecting rod the pesticide is forced to the delivery valve, the delivery is connected to the pipe carrying the number of nozzles
•Thus the pesticide is sprayed through nozzles mounted.
Benefits of the ProjectThe benefits of the manually operated multi-nozzle pesticide sprayer are many, but the main benefits are given below.
- The first, Less Human Effort benefit of this manually operated sprayer is that it will lower human effort. Previously, farmers would use hand sprayers and display pesticides in the field, taking much human action.
- Secondly, The Health Issue, the standard sprayer that the farmers use they carry on their backs and their shoulders are so much heavier that their backbone can be injured. They can have muscle ache, so because of this manually operated sprayer, farmers don't need to be afraid of health issues, especially their back issues.
- Third, Time-Saving, in the standard handheld spray, the farmer needs to go through the whole field carrying the pump on its back and to spray in both directions unequally and unsymmetrical, so manually operated sprayer helps the farmer to move fast and spread the pesticide equally and symmetrically on both sides of the field so the pesticides can cover the whole area.
- Fourth, Storage Capacity, the farmer can only carry 10 litres to a maximum of 15 litres spraying pump on his back, and after going through some area of the field, the spray will end so manually operated sprayer has much capacity so that time is not wasted and the process of spraying continues.
The solution suggested by the proposed project is the use of multi-nozzle sprayer operated manually. Here rotary motion is converted into reciprocating motion manually. The handle is being pushed which causes the wheel to rotate .The chain sprocket arrangement is driven by the wheel ,this in turn rotates the slider crank ,creating pressure in piston pump. The amount of pressure created causes the pesticide from the tank to flow out of the tank . The pesticides propel out through the nozzle , connected to pump through a connecting rod.
