Design and Fabrication of an Autonomous Security Robot
Project Area of Specialization Mechatronics EngineeringProject SummaryWe are to make a surveillance robot that will detect the intruder in a specific area using image and video processing by an overhead camea. The robot will send an alert to UGVs and it will go to intruder by generating the shortest path using path planning algorithms.
Project ObjectivesThe main objectives of the project are as under:
1) Fabrication of UGV as per project specifications.
2) Image and video processing to detect intruder.
3) Implementation of path planning algorithms on UGV to reach the intruder.
Project Implementation MethodWe have categorized our project in three main parts:
1) Project description and data collecting.
2) Mathematical modelling.
3) Path planning and Fabrication.
Benefits of the ProjectThe benefits of the project are as follow:
- The robot can be used for security purposes in any area as it is using the image and video processing in a dynamic environment.
- The robot can be used for spying purposes as it uses the high quality night vision camera that can see through fog and smoke.
- The robot will be available for work at any time. It can work continuously without getting tired.
- The robot can also be used to detect fire, flame, gas leakage and radioactive things that makes the robot to work for safety purposes as well.
- The project have the ability to detect the obstacles in its self generated path and it can also avoid them.
- It can also read the licence plates and have the ability to see vast places in any environment.
- The robot will reduce the risks for human.
- The robot is incorruptible.
- It will have better decision-making power and longer life span.
- The project will be capable for guiding the feasible path for blind person.
We are using following technologies in our project:
- We are using ultrasonic sensor for object detection and for distance measurement.
- We are using an HD night vising camera that has long distant coverage ability and it also can record and save data.
- We are using ESP32 controller that has multi-tasking ability.
- We are also using Servo and DC motors that are used to perform required task.
