Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryBlindness is the major challenge to humanity since evolution of human being. A blind is always dependent on the people around him for his assistance and is not able to cope with his difficulties independently. In this scenario, there is strong need of an assistive system for blind that will help him to be independent.
This project focuses on the design of a smart aiding system based on goggles that can help blind to get aware of his environment. It will provide him assistance and will minimize his dependency on others.
The proposed system is a standalone device that is worn by the blind. This system has an audible output through which the blind will have knowledge of his environment.
Project ObjectivesThe main objectives of this project are:
- To design an efficient system for the blind to be independent.
- To design a standalone assistive system.
- To serve the humanity
Raspberry Camera module is used for capturing the picture manually with the help of a push buttons integrated with it. The captured picture is then sent to the database. This picture is then further processed by the raspberry pi module. The objects are then localized, detected and identified in the captured picture. This output obtained after this is then converted to speech and sent to the visually impaired person’s ear through earphones connected to the audio jack of raspberry pi.
