These interaction techniques improve their performance and learning but in a complex way. In this project, we will developed a 3D interactive Virtual Periodic Table (VPT) for students of secondary school level and it will be based on Semi-immersive environment where students will be able to get rich information about any chemical both in visual and 3D form by using a novel based interaction interface. These information will be based on chemical and physical properties including ionic bonds and 3D molecular structure which will be very useful
for their learning enhancement. The first aim of this project is
to provide an easy interaction interface to use a novel cubic-
liner based interaction technique by using 3D interactive device i-e Nintendo Wiimote and 3D Screen for semi-immersiveness. The second aim of this project is to make the students familiar with the virtual reality technologies and their scopes in the field of education and how they can enhance their learning skill.
- To provide a novel based VPT in chemistry education.
- To provide both textual & 3D molecular structure of any chemical.
- To provide in VPT a novel cubic-liner based ineration interface.
- To provide 3D interaction by using Nintendo Wiimote in VPT.
- To facilitate the students by using of 3D screen to get semi-immersive virtual learning environment to enhance
their level of interest and learnign skill.
The system will be implemented by using Unity 3D Engine Minimum processing speed of 1 GHz having 2 GB of RAM is required to develop the project. A Nintendo Wiimote will be used for 3D interaction with VPT and Oculus Rift for fully-immersiveness where he/she can easily feel his/her physically presence in the virtual environment.
The system will be evaluated by metric and intermediate level students in different schools and colleges with the proposed system.
The proposed project can play a pivotal role in the upgrading
of education system in Pakistan. The introduction of this novel and challenging technology in the educational institutes will explore and disclose new ways for the upcoming students and will provide them with a sort of stimulus which will encourage and provoke them for further exploration and innovation in the field of education. Through this way the dignity and honor of the educational institutions would also be enhanced.
Furthermore, it will also highlight the role of said technology
for students' basic conceptual ehancement.
