Project Summary

Nowadays, photovoltaic (PV) systems have been being installed rapidly all over the world. However, the
installations typically employ a fixed flat-plate system, using pre-specified angles acquired by geographical
positioning. Hence, the power generated by PV systems decreases significantly, according to the variation of solar
irradiation in the progress of a day and the seasons in a year. In order to increase the solar power generation, this
paper proposes the design and implementation of a low-cost automatic dual-axis solar tracker system. The
tracking system is designed as a closed-loop control based active tracking system, employing Light Dependent
Resistor (LDR) sensors as the inputs of the system. The tracking strategy utilizes a digital logic design of the
sensors’ participation implemented in a projection system to simply rotate around the primary (northsouth)
axis and the secondary (east-west) axis. In the experiment, the proposed tracking system and the fixed
flat-plate system were evaluated for the comparative study. The experimental results show that the proposed
tracking system increased the efficiency of electrical energy by averagely 44.89%, using the proposed system
Compared with the fixed flat-plate system. Finally, the cost analysis is provided for the proposed tracking
system

innovating in some villages there are generating their own electricity and also getting a lot benefits from
this latest technology There is only one thing stronger than all the armies of the world: and that is an idea
whose time has come In our work and should spread the awareness in every institute of Pakistan and tell
them importance of it and in the energy we harness. Work smarter, not harder. We know that almost
countries getting benefits from this system and going towards of it because it’s has low cost expenditures.
Using predominantly petroleum products for energy production has a couple of major drawbacks,
including limited supplies, the release of greenhouse gases and other pollutants during use, and for most
countries, the dependence on foreign oil and coal supplies (and the inevitable price increases that go along
with that But the solar power industry has been pushing out innovations right and left, some of which have
the potential to make a serious positive and impact on our energy systems.

Project Implementation Method

The proposed solar tracker is derived from a closed loop

control system that is largely based on the field of electrical

and electronics engineering. This system is used to position

solar panels to track the position of the sun throughout the 

course of the day so as to achieve higher efficiency of power

generation. The component of the electronic system consists

of a microcontroller, a stepper motor, Light Dependent

Resistors (photo sensors). The components are grouped into

the following units and illustrated in the block diagram below.

? Display unit

? Central processing unit

Benefits of the Project

The primary and secondary axes work together to allow these trackers to point the solar panels at specific points in the sky. Advantages of dual-axis trackers include: Higher degree of flexibility, allowing for a higher energy output on sunny days. Higher degree of accuracy in directional pointing.
