Project Area of Specialization Augmented and Virtual RealityProject SummaryOur Project is a VR based Application. In this Application we're resolving many problems related to psychotherapy. Firstly, we're providing an e-solution to those 7.4 million Pakistanis (who are currently going through depression and anxiety issues, finding it difficult to go to psychiatrists due to various reasons including tough schedule, various psychosocial burdens and family problems) where they can locate, interact and communicate with psychiatrists and even proceed with their psychotherapy from within the comfort of their home. All they have to do is to wear a VR headset and go to a virtual world where they could rather than just imagine a natural relaxing environment will actually visit an interactive natural relaxing VR environment and in the meantime interact with a real psychiatrist in terms of an avatarbased 3D model. This process will minimize their limitation of going to a natural environment physically. Secondly, we’re providing psychiatrists a smart solution to enhance their psychotherapeutic process. Most of the people don't have strong imagination skills due to various reasons and if they can't imagine properly during psychotherapy then consequently it will affect their psychotherapeutic process. So, with the help of our VR application, psychiatrists can facilitate their patients in this regard and both (Psychiatrists and Patients) can go to a real time interactive VR Psychotherapeutic Environment and ultimately perform psychotherapy and for that we've created some Ultra Relaxing Natural Environments with the consultation of various Psychiatrists. Thirdly, many depression patients often face sudden anxiety attacks and apart from 'Salah and Quran' they don't have anything to calm themselves in these kinds of alarming situations. So, to help those patients we're providing Natural Relaxing VR Meditation Environment in which they can go and calm/relax themselves by choosing their favorite natural interactive environment
Project ObjectivesThe objectives of VR PsychoTherapy Application are:
- To provide psychiatrists a latest technological solution to modify their way of performing psychotherapy to enhance the effectiveness of it.
- Providing an e-solution to those 7.4 million Pakistani depression patients who finds it difficult to go to psychiatrists physically due to tough schedules, psychosocial burdens and family pressures.
- Providing a relaxing solution to those depression patients who faces sudden anxiety attacks.
The implementation of our project is VR technology based. We will create our different VR environments on Unreal Engine 05 and will create the model of psychiatrists on Blender and our VR Application will be available for Oculus Quest VR Headsets. And in the future, we'll further move onto AI based models.
Stepwise Implementation:
Step1: Create assets on Blender for VR Environment.
Step 2: Imports these assets in Unreal Engine 05.
Step 3: Convert that VR environment into interactive environment.
Step 4: Create a 3D avatar-based model on blender.
Step 5: Import that model into environment.
Step 6: Create a build of environment for Oculus Headset.
Step 7: Create an application for interaction between psychiatrists and patients.
Step 8: Create communication between VR environment and application.
Benefits of the Project- The benefits of our project are that it will help depression patients specifically university students to tackle with the tabooed perception created by the society about going to psychiatrists. Our project will provide them proper platform to locate Psychiatrists and interact with them.
- Our Project will provide them a way to calm them in case of sudden anxiety.
- Our project will encourage them at same time about this regard.
- Our project will facilitate Psychiatrists to modify their psychotherapy process and will help them to be more effective towards their patients and most importantly our project will fill a small portion of a wide gap of technology in our society specifically health sector.
- Our Final Product is a VR Application which is using an interactive Environment to facilitate its users.
- It will be available for VR Headset users specifically Oculus Quest Headsets as well as Also be available for both Android and iOS users.
