Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryVARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE is an AC drive that is used to control the speed of AC motors. Basically it is to adjust the speed of induction motor in efficient manner with less power losses. We use PIC controller so that its adjusts the waveforms at variable frequency. When we change the frequency it send sits waveform to 74175 IC which further send to IR2120 IC which gate driver IC that is used to operate the IGBTs. We have a three phase bridge of IGBTs that is used to drive the motor and at load we have conveyor belt driven by motor.
Project ObjectivesOur main objective is to design VFD drive controller circuit for three phase induction motor.
VFD perfectly controls the motor variable speed
Project Implementation MethodOn software part we have complete controller on Proteus software with accurate waveforms at output after variable frequency given on controller. Programming of PIC controller is done in C language in MIKRO C for PIC software and hex file is loaded in Proteus. In hardwre part we have rectifier which converts AC to DC further we have voltage regulator of 12v and 5v for IC and PIC respectively. We have IR 2130 gate driver IC that drives the IGBTs along with the feedback through bosstrap capacitors, that drives the motor at variable speed.
Benefits of the ProjectIn regard of industrial benifits we realize that 99% of ventures utilizes Induction Motor for its high power. Acceptance motors are most regular motors utilized as a part of any sort industry including it to be electrical or something else. No issue what organization create yet with regard to motor it is none other than induction motor. For huge tasks in heavy industries induction motors are used.
If we see its benefits in domestic purpose, in our homes we see numerous induction motors doing their employements. For Example Motor of Icebox, Water Pump Motor, Cooler Motor etc. are some regular illustrations that we see in our daily lives.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableWe have PIC controller along with the complete circuitry of controller. We have three phase induction motor connected at output of controller which is driving the belt.
