Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThe project deals with initializing the system first, then camera turns on and check the mask. If the mask is set it will proceed towards temperature sensing task. Afterwards, if a person place his hand in front of the sensor it detects the temperature. If it is less than the threshold value which is set in the code the gate will open and if it is greater than the threshold value which is also set in the code the gate will remain closed. We have used MLX 90614 sensor, IR sensor, DC gear motor, limit switches, relays, camera and Raspberry pi 4. Camera is interfaced with Raspberry Pi and open CV is installed. MLX 90614(temperature sensor), IR sensor and motor has been successfully interfaced. Two 2 channel relays are used because they have 10A rating and we haven’t used motor driver because it has 2A rating. We have used a technique in relay which moves the motor in clock and anti-clock wise direction. Relay is the best option to interface with the Raspberry Pi. MLX 90614 is used which communicate on I2C communication protocol. Two limit switches are used with input pull up configuration to gain internal resistance. Raspberry Pi connected to 5v 3A charger and motor is connected to 12v 5A supply.
Project Objectives- Our aim is to design a model which can sense the temperature of the person and also detects the face mask.
- To accomplish this we need to first design a wooden structure, use sensors to measure body temperature and apply image processing algorithms to detect face mask.
- On the other hand, objectives are if someone’s temperature is greater than the set threshold value than the barrier will not open.
- Also, if someone is not wearing the face mask in that case the set obstacle will not open.
- Face Mask detection is performed through image processing.
- Camera is connected to Raspberry pi.
- Non-contact temperature sensor MLX90614 is also connected to Raspberry pi (Range 10-12 cm) which checks temperature.
- Below that there is an IR sensor which detects hand when it is placed underneath it.
- There is a structure with two limit switches, upper and lower.
- Lower switch works when the gate is closed and the Upper switch works when the gate is open.
- By using two Relays we control DC motor in clockwise and anti-clockwise direction to turn gate open and closed.
- There are two charger inputs.
- A supply charger of 12V and 5A is used to operate the motor.
- A supply charger for Raspberry pi of 5V and 3A.
- A webcam is directly connected to Raspberry pi.
- A SD card in which an operating system is installed is connected to Raspberry pi.
- LCD (Touch screen) is used which gives the view of Raspberry pi.
- The structure is made of wood.
We can introduce our project in various sectors such banking, hospitals, schools, airport, shopping malls etc. Although, this project won’t help to cure the disease but it will definitely help in overcoming the transmission rate. Furthermore, project is low budget, hence, it would be affordable to consumers.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable- The system will initialize.
- Camera will turn on.
- It will check the mask and if the mask is set it will proceed further.
- If the temperature is less than the threshold value the gate will open.
- If the temperature is greater than the threshold value the will remain close.
