Augmented Reality is an interesting technology that superimposes virtual information over physical world. Various technologies are used in AR rendering, including optical projection systems, monitors, handheld devices, and display systems, which are worn on the human body. Dressing up and wearing different design dresses is an interesting trend nowadays. However, there is a high level of uncertainty to ensure how the new dress will look on our body. SmartWear is an augmented reality application, which will help people who are picky and skeptical while dressing up. SmartWear will let you virtually see new clothes on your body, new shoes on your feet, etc before you order it or wear it. User will just capture a picture of the product and will see how it looks like on user body with video recording camera on user body. The virtual dress will be superimposed over the user body (Physical body) in real-time.
4. To allow user interaction for manipulation of the virtual information and its visualization.
Technologies that will be used in this project are Unity 3d which is the core engine for developing augmented reality-based cross-platform applications, Vuforia augmented reality SDK, and/or ARToolKit augmented reality SDK, Maxst 2D SDK for image tracking, and 3D SDK for environment recognition and Google ARcore to determine the position and orientation of the device. In addition, 3D Models, Android Studio and geometric library such as CGAL will be used in this project. OpenGL graphics library will be used for graphics object visualization and handling their geometric information.
Benefits
SmartWear is an Augmented Reality application planned to be developed as a FYP. It will be available with extended portability which will run on smartphone as well as on personal computer (windows). It will take images of dresses, shoes and jewelries and will allow users to superimpose it on his/her body to see how does it look. It will be a fully interactive tool with geometry calculations of the dresses and shoes through a video recording camera. The virtual images will be augmented over the user body seen in a video recording camera. It can be used for requirement gathering, enhancing customer certainty, efficient decision making of the users. Reliability, robustness, low-cost, easy installation and easy in use are the key design principal of the proposed AR application.
