When a motorcycle is equipped with the smart helmet, it doesn't let the motorcycle gets turned on if not worn. Moreover, if a rider meets an accident, his friends and family wll be informed of his location through coordinates and this feature is a privilige for those riders who ride their bikes in remote or desoted areas, where, in case of meeting an accident there is a very little chance that some other person come acrosses the accident victim to rescue him and escort him to the hospital, thus this information is very important to such riders and their friend and family.
Project ObjectivesSmart Helmet is a safety and security soltion for the most common commute in our country which is motorcycle. Smart Helmet not only ensures the safety of the rider but it does ensures the security of the motorbike too. Since, the motorcycle can't be turned on without wearing the helmet, so no matter which ignition cheats a thief would use, he can't start the bike to get it stolen. And even if a rider has the helmet worn, and gets robbed of his vehicle, as soon as the bike gets out of range of the helmet, it would turn off. Thus ensuring the security of the bike. As far as the safety is concerned, Helmet use is associated with odds reductions of 51% for head injury, 69% for serious head injury, 33% for face injury and 65% for fatal head injury, thus if we can't move our bike an inch without wearing the helmet we are 65% safer than those who are not wearing it which may lead to death directy.
Project Implementation MethodSmart helmet is a wearable product like any other helmet but it comes with its counterpart which is to be installed in the bike. Thus all you need to do to be a user of smart helmet is, to own a bike and rest is upto us as we shall provide you with complete installation of device and all's DONE.
Benefits of the ProjectSmart Helmet benefits its user in terms of more enhanced security of a bike and more ensured safety of the rider as since, the bike can't get turned ON if the rider isn't wearing the helmet.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableSmart Helmet is powered by an arduino board which is equipped with different components like bluetooth module, accelerometer, gyrometer and proximity sensors to detect if the helmet is worn or not and to send signal accordingly.
It's installable counterpart is also powered by arduino which is equipped with bluetooth, accelerometer, gyrometer and a relay.
While a mobile app is needed to use this data to inform friends and family of the rider in case of accident, which is linked to the wearable and installable parts.
