At present, in our city we see that the existing garbage bins placed at public places are overloaded. It creates unhygienic conditions for people as well ugliness to that place leaving bad smell and also leading to so many diseases like malaria, fever, dengue, etc. From literature study the death rate is increases in the world because of mosquito’s bite and these diseases are incurable to take the life of human beings. More ever it is a great challenge to oversee waste material to the experts in control for waste management. Due to absence of appropriate management, a lot of solid waste management spending budget gets depleted on waste gathering and transportation. Thus, the change of the solid waste management frame work is truly necessary for a late time which requires an efficient and appropriate approach to screen the status of the solid waste bin progressively while affirming greens environment for public places. In this project smart we are designing IOT based smart garbage and waste collection bin with sorting features for recycling to utilize waste material especially metals and plastic for generation purpose.

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method

The system will calculate points according to the weight of the waste dump by the users and they will be rewarded with accordance to their points. The main purpose of the web application is to process and view the eco point collection system and maintain the user profiles. In the user profile is categorized under three categories as households, small businesses and large businesses. This web application supports for indications. That means when a dustbin is full or reached to the maximum level this web application provides details to the admin whether it is full or not. IR sensor, flame sensor, rain sensor, gas sensor and raspberry pi controller. When the user dumps the garbage in to the dustbin, the load-cell measure the weight of the waste dumped by the user and sends it to the database. If the dustbin is full, the ultrasonic sensor will detect it and send a text message to the collection center that the dustbin is full. In this system we are needed to make communication with the database which is hosted in a server. There are two communication methods available to use in this scenario. Those are Wired Communication and wireless communication. we choose wireless communication method to transfer data to the database and retrieve data from the database. The wired communication methods like Ethernet is not practical with our Smart dustbin system, because those dustbins need to be mobile (movable). In the category of wireless communication, we used to choose a device to make communication.Finally, all modules were integrated as a one system.

Following are the benefits:

Reliability.

This project used for public environments, where communication is important for service provisioning. In particular, since this project is used IOT that has a wide service domain, reliable communication is necessary for devices to communicate with each other. Therefore, the smart garbage bin based on wireless mesh network, securing communication reliability.

Mobility.

For  high level of mobility, this project operates with a battery instead of the fixed Power source With a battery-based power supply, the mobility of the proposed system is secured.

Service Continuity.

In our project, IoT with a wide service domain, data exchanges and services should be conducted seamlessly at any time and any location.

User Friendly:

The project provide real time monitoring for user convinces.  

Energy Efficiency.  IoT applied to external and public environments relies on an always-on infrastructure and requires mobility, causing a large amount of energy consumption.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The prototype design of our project is Smart Garbage Bin, which consists of main controller raspberry pi  with different sensors and sorting features.This project design for development of smart green environment by garbage monitoring system by collection and control garbage level in real time and to alert the municipality management, the bin is full based on the types of garbage. The system shows the status of different four types of garbage; domestic waste, paper, glass and plastic through LCD. The main function of components are:

RASPBERRY PI: The controller we use in our project is Raspberry pie. It is the main controller

and It can be said as the backbone of this project. It controls all the sensors, used in this project.

IR SENSOR:

We know that Infrared sensor is an electronic device, that emits in order to sense some aspects of the surroundings. An IR sensor can measure the heat of an object as well as detects the motion.In our project IR sensor detect the objects.

LEVEL SENSOR:

After IR, Level sensor level the objects ,As we know that level sensor is a device for determining the level or amount of fluids, liquids or other substances that flow in an open or closed system.In our project level sensor works as for managing the level of garbage bin.

LOAD CELL SENSOR:

The main component of our project is load cell sensor, It is a sensor or a transducer that converts a load or force acting on it into an electronic signal. 

FLAME SENSOR:

As we know that flame detector is a sensor designed to detect and respond to the presence of a flame or fire, allowing flame detection.In our project we use flame sensor in case of Emergency.

GAS SENSOR:

Gas sensors are electronic devices that detect and identify different types of gasses, often those that are toxic or explosive.Gas sensor is very important sensor of our project.

BLYNK APP:

In last we use this app for real time monitoring, as we know that Blynk is a new platform that allows you to quickly build interfaces for controlling and monitoring your hardware projects from your iOS and Android device.In our project we use this app for real time monitoring.

It is expected that this system can create greener environment by monitoring and controlling the collection of garbage smartly through Internet-of-Things.
