This project is an android mobile gallery application designed to provide search image option to the user. User of this application can see the images in gallery and search the images by object names and faces such as ‘tree’, ‘person’, ‘cat’ or a person’s name etc.

Project Objectives

Nowadays, people use their smartphones to capture photographs as well as to save/download images from the internet. Users often find it hard to search an image from thousands of images in the gallery. The main objective of this project is to make a smart gallery for android smartphones that will provide a search option to the users. The gallery application will apply different algorithms of object detection, OCR and face recognition on images to recognize objects or faces and read text from the images.

Project Implementation Method

PyTorch and Tensorflow librabries are used to train objects models while Firebase ML kit is used for Text and Face recognition. A GPU is used for training of the algorithms. The final product is a native android gallery app which is developed in android stuio in Java language.

Benefits of the Project

Android users will no longer have to search any image manually. They can search any image by the contetnts present in the image. They can searh images of a specific person by a his/her name. They can search images contating specific text or a specific object like tree, road, building etc.
