The development of Intelligent Smart Farming IoT based devices is day by day turning the face of agriculture production by not only enhancing it but also making it cost-effective and reducing wastage. Pakistan depends heavily on agriculture. The importance of this sector is manifold as it feeds people, provides the raw material for industry, and is the base of our foreign trade. Foreign exchange earned from merchandise exports is 45% of the total exports of Pakistan. It contributes 26% of GDP and 52% of the total populace is getting livelihood from it. Almost 67.5% of people are living in the rural areas of Pakistan and are directly involved in it.
According to literature survey and practical survey, water shortage, absence of high yield verities of seeds, and lack of research and development are the basics causes of low per hectare yield of crops in Pakistan. As well as most of the farmer still using the old and manual method because our farmer is poor, and government cannot take interest to introduce the farmer a new and moderate method of farming. The aim of this report is to introduce the farmer to a new and moderate method of farming. Questionnaires were issued to 20 farmers from 25 from different villages of Pakistan. Three out of four farmers were using traditional techniques since last. In the present scenario, Pakistan does not have sufficient latest technology in the agriculture sector. So, these results motivated us to get a solution to the problem.
Smart farming robot for seeding and spraying will detect the problem and resolve it by seeding a seed in a specific area with the same measured distance and make it optimal and image processing feature in it will figure out any insects damaging field then it will spray for better results (more yield). This technology will help farmers to monitor and manage the status of their plantations such as fruit plants or other plants to various agriculture sites. There are many benefits of using this method which is considered as a low cost and reliable system as compared to the other system.
Project Objectives•To develop a suitable mechanical robotic design which will for the agriculture field.
•To design a robotic algorithm that is smart enough for seeding and spraying application.
•To assemble UAV which will be efficient enough to analyze the field and to coordinate.
•To develop an algorithm drone for UAV which will be efficient to coordinate
Project Implementation MethodFor this project, we can plant different types and different sizes of seeds and, we can vary the space between two seeds while planting and, we can spray the plants which can save the plants from further infection or damage. This will also increase the planting efficiency and accuracy. To design a machine (robot/wheeler) that gets power from the battery same as a UAV. The output of the UAV taken by the Camera goes to the controller where image processing will occur and find the part of the crop which is infected by an insect and this information will pass to the controller which will decide it wants to spray or not, for the wheeler/seeder part of the robot same controller control the seeding tank and decide at which distance it needs to sow a seed and the nozzle of the seeding tank which located at the wheels of the seeder adjusts the diameter according to the size of the seed.
Benefits of the ProjectThere are many benefits of using this method which is considered as a low cost and reliable system as compared to the other system. This sowing machine has a large capacity for carrying seeds. So far, the tractor was a major pull-up unit for agricultural nutrition. There is a need to promote this technology and to make it available even to smallholder farmers with low prices. By using this, we can achieve distance flexibility and depth of control for a variety of seeds.UAV gets better results of monitoring the field and deciding whether it requires any spray or not.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThe final deliverable of this project contains a seeder and UAV. Seeder/robot having a seeding tank and spraying tank for respective purposes on it which contains special purpose wheels with adjustable nozzles for different sizes of seeds,.
