A separate person is required to take care of this notices display. This project is about advanced wireless notice board. The project is built around ARM controller raspberry- pi which is heart of the system. The project aims at designing a LCD Monitor based message display controlled from an Android mobile phone. The proposed system makes use of wireless technology to communicate from Android phone to Raspberry Pi (ARM7) display board. The system has a provision for giving message through text. Automation is the most frequently spelled term in the field of electronics. The hunger for automation brought many revolutions in the existing technologies. This project makes use of an onboard computer, which is commonly termed as Raspberry Pi processor. It acts as heart of the project. This onboard computer can efficiently communicate with the output and input modules which are being used. The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card-sized single-board computer developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. Android boasts a healthy array of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and wireless data over a cellular connection (for example, GPRS, EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution), and 3G). Android provides access to a wide range of useful libraries and tools that can be used to build rich applications. In addition, Android includes a full set of tools that have been built from the ground up alongside the platform providing developers with high productivity and deep insight into their applications.
Project ObjectivesThe main objective is to design a raspberry pi based electronic notice board, a display connected to a server system should continuously read the incoming message from user process it and display it on the LCD/LED screen. Message displayed should be updated every time the user sends new data only authenticated people should be able to able to access the server. Notice board should display four messages at a time.
Project Implementation MethodClient: User Mobile (Android Powered Mobile Phone)
Server : Raspberry Pi
Raspberry Pi connects to Router using a Wi-Fi adaptor
Router assigns IP address to Raspberry Pi.
Server is created on Raspberry Pi which receive incoming messages.
When a connection is established the client sends message to server.
The message sent to by the client is stored in a text file on raspberry pi SD card.
The text file is read by another Program which is displays the text on LCD/LED monitor connected on HDMI Interface.
Benefits of the Project- Electronic notice board is aimed at the colleges and universities for displaying day-to-day information continuously or at regular intervals during working hours.
- It offers flexibility to display flash news or announcements faster than a programmable system.
- Electronic notice board can also be used at other public places like schools, hospitals, railway stations, gardens etc. without affecting the surrounding environment.
Wireless operations permit services, such as long-range communications, that are impossible or impractical to implement with the use of wires. It provides fast transfer of information and are cheaper to install and maintain. This paper provides an efficient way of displaying messages on Notice Board using Wireless Technology. It also provides user authentication in order to avoid any misuse of proposed system.
