Summary
Smart automation is a rather familiar concept these days as most developed countries in the world have automation as a means of convenience. The same cannot be said about third world or developing countries which are rather unfamiliar with this. Pakistan in particular is also in the earlier stages of industrial revolution and automation is the key to a sustainable and smart future. The project is based on the concept of the internet of things, a world in which you can control electric appliances via internet. The module that is being used in the project is the Esp8266 a WiFi module that has microcontroller properties. This little chip is the primary source of automation in the project. The basic concept is that we have a Esp that is placed in a room in a firm or any other destination where automation is required that is connected to the internet. An employee in the firm leaves her cabin and doesn’t turn the lights and the air conditioner off. The power that would be wasted all night is inconceivable. Smart automation management system has the ability to use scheduling to ensure that all the electrical appliances are turned off when the employees leave the firms. The scope of the project is not limited to a firm. It has the capability and the potential to be implemented anywhere. A user friendly interface is provided to ensure the ease and comfort of the user in managing their appliances. The use of internet is so common these days that the odds of no internet in an urban or even many rural areas are very low so this means that this project can be implemented in most places.
Project ObjectivesObjectives
The main focus is to make automation more mainstream in Pakistan. Presently, this is implemented in a very limited capacity. The companies that are deploying their projects have a market target of an industrial scale. This is very expensive for an average person who wants automation but refrains because of the high cost. Smart Automation Management System is a project that aims to change this. Our main objectives are:
- Even though the Internet of things is not a new concept, it is still on the process of evolving. The greatest advantage it has is that it is applicable almost everywhere from smart homes to connecting offices.
- A smooth and efficient system that is cost effective as well.
- Our plan is to promote the use of smart automation in Pakistan, a country where this field is currently almost non-existent.
- The consumers of this product will have autonomous control of their premises.
- Eliminating unnecessary wiring by shifting to wireless.
- Schedule devices to work in specific times (lights, AC, coffee machine, radio, etc.).
- The devices will work independently causing no interruption in the operation of the appliances.

Technical Details of the final product
- The final product will be in the form of a pocket sized box that will contain the Esp8266, a power supply and a relay switch for the output module.
- The input module has the Esp8266, the power supply and the sensors.
- A backup 12V battery will be provided in the case of power failure so that the module keeps on working.
- A web server that has a user friendly interface shall be available to make things convenient.
- This web server can be operated from any device that has internet access in the premises.
- Users will have the ability to adjust the timing of their desired appliances so that they can go away to their destinations without the worry of unnecessay power consumption.
- This product can be connected to any electrical appliance without making any changes to the wire.
