Project Summary

An android application for Roman Urdu to Urdu conversion. Input text can be typed on our applicationor URL can be provided to grab the text from social media or other websites. INput string is tokenized into words. Each word is searched in both dictionaries to prepare a translated concatenated string. A word composer is developed to identify new words intelligently as per phonetics of letters when a word is not found in dictionary. The composed word will be added as Urdu word to final translated string. It will provide facility to researchers as well as Urdu book writers to get Roman text translated in Urdu. The application can help common people or foreigners who cannot read roman Urdu.

Project Objectives

• Our main objective is to facilitate people living in Urdu speaking community as well as Researchers to get Roman text in actual Urdu.
• Detection of Roman Urdu and English word to traslate as per sequence of sentence
• Urdu to Roman Urdu translation as well

Project Implementation Method

Develop a dictionary of Roman Urdu words and its traslated word using UNICODE. Also prepare a dictionary of English words.

Take Roman Urdu text as input by typing or Input Roman Urdu Text from URL like social media content by applying text grabbing techniques

Tokenization of the input string

Search each word in both of the dictionaries and prepare a translated concatenated string. Also adjust the sequence of translated word to ensure meaningful translation in the final string.

Verify that when a word is not found in dictionary then the application should compose new words intelligently as per phonetics of letters. The application will apply set of rules to ensure word composition. The composed word will be added as Urdu word to final traslated string.

In order to improve the design and check reliability and accessibility we will test it on 4 to 5 different mobiles and then 

Deploying the prototype version on Google play store.

Benefits of the Project

It will provide Facility to researchers as well as Urdu book writers to get Roman text translated in Urdu.

Urdu Translation for Common people who cannot read roman Urdu.

Urdu to Roman Urdu Generator is beneficial for local or foregiers people who cannot read Urdu. Our system will generate Roman Urdu to speak. Peoples of different regions with different languages of pakistan can also be benefitted from this application.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

An android appliaction (apk file) for Operating System 4.0 and above with API level 16 and above.

An SQLITE based dictionary for Roman Urdu and English words.

Application will have the capabilities to translate the Text written in Roman Urdu into actual Urdu and Vice Versa
