In our project we are basically elimate batteries from ups used in oue homes. We replace ups batteries with pump storage hydroelectric system. In this system we use a turbine and generator which are moved by the flowing water. The turbine is run by a water stored in the upper reservoir of the home.

In our project we are basically elimate batteries from ups used in oue homes. We replace ups batteries with pump storage hydroelectric system. In this system we use a turbine and generator which are moved by the flowing water. The turbine is run by a water stored in the upper reservoir of the home. The water tends to flow in the event of load shedding by using a solenoid valve. Then after passing through turbine this water is stored in the lower reservoir. When electricity come back we shift the stored water from lower reservoir to the upper reservoir with the help oue the water pump. About 550 gallon of water can run the turbine for 90 minutes. We are using 12 volt dc generator of about 400watts which is directly coupled with the turbine shaft. This generator is then connected to the invertor of the ups which converts 12v dc to 220v ac which is then used to run the load. It is very economical than the batteries 

Project Objectives

We want to use PSHE( pump storage hydroelectric system) for residential applications we desire to use hydroelectricity to run or for driving basic home appliances like ceiling  fans, light, bulbs and other low power loads during load shedding . 

It will help the public to maintain electrical power for long time during load shedding

It would help to get rid from lead acid batteries,their recycling and change of batteries expected after each year

Project Implementation Method

We use the following components in oue project

Pelton turbine

12 v DC Generator 400 W

Solenoid valve

½ hp water pump

2 water tanks

When the flowing water moves the turbine, the turbine also moves the generator which produces electricity of 12v dc it then converted to 220 v ac with the help of an invertor. Which is then supplied to the load.

It will help the users to get rid from changing the batteries of ups after every year 

It will help the users to decrease their electricity cost

It will help the users to get electricity without effecting environment 

In rural areas former can use this system

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

Basically this system works on the Faraday's law of electromagnetism that is the current is produced in the coil when it rotates in the magnetic field
