Prepaid Energy Meter by using Arduino and GSM
Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThe main idea of the project is tomodernize our metering system using Arduino and GSM. Now-a-days technology has developed to a large extend. At the same time the necessity for systems with automation and high security are preferred. So, by using one of the superlative technologies available we are designing a prepaid electricity meter using Arduino and GSM for commercial and domestic purposes. Old-style meter reading for electricity consumption and billing is done by human operator from houses to houses and building to building. This requires huge number of labour workers and long working hour to achieve complete area reading and billing. Human operator billing are suffer to reading errors as sometime in houses the electricity power meter is placed in place where it is not easily accessible. Labour billing work is sometime also restricted and is slowed down by bad climate conditions. By using this system we can avoid such kind of problems. This system also able to save the transformer from disposing. When current increase from the define threshold value the system trip the home load.
Project ObjectivesTo convert regular WAPDA metering system in to prepaid energy meter.
To develop an automatic load tripping system in case of overloading.
To design a reliable secure energy metering system.
Project Implementation Method1st step: first step include literature.
2nd step: component selection.
3rd step:pulse counting from meter through Arduino.
4th step: LCD, GSM, and IR sensor interfacing with Arduino.
5th step: Hardware implementation, and integration of hardware and software,
6th: Testing and Result
Benefits of the ProjectMeter reader are not reliable.
Reduce electricity consuming when income is tight.
No billing errors.
No debt money.
No need of extra staff for meter reading.
Customer will be responsible for disconnections[3
