Power Harvesting using RF Stray Signals
Project Area of Specialization Information & Communication TechnologyProject SummaryRenewable Energy is emerging as a prominent alternative to fulfill the demands of the energy sector. Many techniques such as solar, wind bio-gas are explored and utilized for the energy production. Reutilization of the energy is another emerging area of research where RF energy harvesting is seen as potential for recharging low power devices from the EM waves readily available in the environment. We wish to design a mechanism that can harvest energy from the RF Sources to charge low powered devices such as sensors or other wearables.
Project ObjectivesThe main Objectives and Aims of our Project are:
1. To develop a Product that can benefit the Society.
2. To develop a clear understanding of Communication Cycle.
3. To make a receiver that can catch RF Signals
4. To apply Signal Processing on RF Signals.
5. To learn the basics of Energy Harvesting.
6. To understand the properties of Antennas.
7. To produce energy and charge different devices.
To design & develop a hardware prototype that can convert RF energy into DC current for recharging the low power devices.
Project Implementation Method1. Selection of RF Band
2. Signal Processing to RF to see the nature of the radiations
3. Antenna Selection Criteria
4. Fabrication of Circuit on ADS
5. Matching Circuit
6. Rf to DC Convertor
7. DC Filter
8. Rectifier
9. Output Power
Benefits of the Project1. To provide self sustainablility to environment in shape of Energy Consumption
2. To utilize the RF Signals readily available in the air.
3. To develop a device that can be used to harvest RF Energy.
4. By this, we can have battery less systems in future that can only work on the principle of RF Energy Harvesting.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable1. Antenna Selection criteria mostly dipole and microstrip patch.
2. PCB Fabrication with the help of ADS
3. Matching circuit made by Disributed Transmission Line theory.
4. Calculations for harvester based upon Rf and Microwave Theory.
5. Final Prototype made on Professional PCB Boards.
