Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryARC(Autonomous Robotic Carrier) is an automated food delivery robot. Its design allows it to travel on many terrains including inclined surfaces. The features that the ARC has are Path Planning, Obstacle Avoidance and can work without Human intervention. ARC works on the principles of SLAM(Simultaneous Localization and Mapping). It uses a 2D Lidar to build its map and also pinpoint its exact location in any given environment.
Project ObjectivesWe are building a Food Delivery robot that we are planning to impliment in Bahria University Islamabad. The objective is to Deliver food from the cafeteria to the offices in the building during rush hours at lunch.
Project Implementation MethodWe have used a 2D Lidar that will give us the angle and the distance of the objects in the environment. ROS is used to impliment SLAM that will give us the map of the environment and the location of the robot. Path is done that will provide with featured such as obstacle avoidance and also keeping track of the destination whenever the robot changes direction.
Benefits of the ProjectIt will reduce the human intervention factor. Also as we are using it to deliver food, it can reach the destination faster during rush hours.
Technical Details of Final Deliverableit is a hardware system that also deals with the software part as the Robot itself will be made to move by programming during the Path Planning.
