The health of a li-ion cell generally depends on two factors which are total charge (mAh) capacity and charge cycles. This machine will measure the actual charge capacity of lithium-ion cell compared to the rated capacity. Moreover, the machine will also measure the total charge-cycle of a lithium-ion cell.
Lithium-ion cell used in various consumer electronics such as laptop batteries, power bank etc. Pakistan is a big market for used consumer electronics. Local traders used a Chinese-made machine to measure the health of li-ion cells. This machine cost around Rs.4 lac minimum which is very expensive and not bearable by most of local traders. We believe, we can build a machine to monitor mAh and remaining charged cycles which approximately gives the same result but the machine cost is cheaper without taxes.
Project Objectives- To measure the actual mAh capacity of Lithium ion cell.
- To measure the remaining charging cycle of Lithium ion cell.
- To build a system to test 10 Lithium ion cell
First we install fully charged cell in our system then system discharge the cell on a particular load. At the time of discharging, system will be able to observe the continuous discharging current. With this we calculate how much mAh capacity of cell is remaining.
Benefits of the Project- The proposed prototype can be extended to a commercial product and may suffice the need of local consumers usually used to import this device from china.
- The development of this project will be a step toward strengthening local technological development.
- The prototype will test the health of lithium-ion cell only.
- The prototype will measure the cell capacity up to 4000mAh.
