We are planning to create a system that will recognize a person’s hand writing and provide a digital result. This application is very important in today’s time period as everything is moving towards digitalization era. This system will have great applications such as:

• Signature verification.
• Postal address interpretation
• Bank check processing, etc.

As this system recognizes a person’s handwriting depending upon the style the person writes, it can also have great application in the security system.
We seek to train the system on English language as it is the most common language in the world and most of the people use it to communicate through it.

Project Objectives

We are also aiming to store the written data into digital form. As we know that previously we used to store the data on papers. We would have a wide variety of problems when with that which are:

Identifying something from a mountain of information.
Difficulty in finding a small mistake.
Storage space, etc.

Now we are moving towards digital phase but we can’t leave all that data behind. Storing all of that data digitally will take several hours. This is where our system will come in, it will recognize everything that was written by the person and make it digital.

This can save every one’s time and will may only require only a few people or maybe even one person. The type of fields that we are aiming at are following:

• Signature verification.
• Postal address interpretation.
• Bank check processing.
• Writing recognition.

Benefits of the Project

The future is technology. This simple line tells us that old methods of gathering data are behind us now. Technology is slowly becoming a vital part of our society.

As the pandemic is going on and children classes are also taken online. This can help them in their studies. They can simply write down anything and the system will convert anything written into digital characters.

This can also be very useful in banking fields. Sometimes there is an issue in recognizing elderly people signature. The system will recognize the signature and identify the person.

This system can also be used in postal address recognition. When a person sends a mail, there can sometimes be an issue in reading the address. This system will identify the address that is written on the mail.

We think that this system will be most useful in the fields which kept there their data written on paper and now they are moving towards digital storage of data. This can help them save several hours and man power.

the techniques that we are going are:

OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
KNN classifier.
Sport vector machine.
Hidden Markov Models.
The algorithm’s that we are going to utilize are:
Image pre-processing.
Feature Extraction.
Classification.
Here the scanned image is taken as input through camera. The pictures can be in the form of JPG and BMT format.
We are also going to use simulation methodology for the purpose of image extraction and recognition.

• Project Scope statement:

This can also be very useful in banking fields. Sometimes there is an issue in recognizing elderly people signature. The system will recognize the signature and identify the person.
