Project Area of Specialization Augmented and Virtual RealityProject SummaryWe all wonder it would have been so comfortable if we could control cursor through the use of hand gestures. Well our proposed project puts forward a hand gesture based system that allows user to control the pc mouse movements through the use of hand movements. Our system uses pc webcam and external cam in order to detect hand gesture movements. The system continuously scans the camera input for five finger hand like patterns. Once a hand is detected, the system then locks it as an objects. A flag is set on the object in order to mark it as an object. After the object has been flagged and detected, our system then constantly records its movements in terms of X y direction movement based coordinates. These coordinates are then mapped real time onto the mouse cursor to move it according to hand movements.

Project Implementation MethodThe main aim of the project is to control the windows cursor moving or accessed with the human gentures. A high definition web camera as well as the external camera is needed to record the hand gestures of and wires. another application is executed on the computer which takes an image or the frame of the image. The image is taken from the pad area along with differnt parameters. The external camera will detecte the gesture of the hand and recognized the various movement gestures of the hand. The hand position is converted to the position of the mouse cursor.

- It is not an electronic based system so one can easily make use of laptops to install this system.
- It is cost-effective.
- It maximizes accuracy and reduces energy usage.
The system is working as the merger of software and hardware system. The hand is moved on the pad and the camera can detect the hand gestures and coverts to the mouse positions. The high inteensity camea and a perful harware will guarantee the accurate and efficient performance of the system.
