Monitoring Cardiac Events and Producing Actionable Device
Project Area of Specialization Wearables and ImplantableProject SummaryThere is always an ambiguity among the patients when symptoms regarding cardiac events are experienced - if they require immediate medical care or is it just a false alarm. To overcome this, this project aims at building a system of self-assessment that is safe, usable and provides actionable advice for abnormal sensations in the chest. The product is aimed to be an over the counter, non-intrusive, inexpensive and easy to use diagnostic device that provides continues monitoring over a period of 24 hours.
Project ObjectivesPersonalized health advice to the user by providing long-term monitoring that facilitates the capturing of sporadic events.
- Keeping well
- Early detection
- Diagnosis
- Decision making
- Treatment
- Life care
- Research
- Training
The generic architecture presented is divided in four modules:
(A) Body Area Network (Sensors data acquisition);
(B) Data Logger or Portable Unit with all the electronics;
(C) Data Analysis & offline method to see the recorded data;
(D) and Real Time Monitoring that enables to visualize live data.
- Data acquisition from sensors
- Amplifying A/D converter filtering
- Signal processing
- Data communication
- Data analysis
- Storage
- Offline Monitoring
- Real time monitoring
The main benefit of this project is lower cost and higher mobility while the data is being collected.
- Better data driven decisions
- Increased disease diagnosis efficiency
- Treatment time cut in half
- Integrity of information
- Reduce Unnecessary hospital visits
- Create time saving administrative duties
A hardware & software system capable of real time monitoring of cardiac normal & sporadic events.
