A dual-band antenna for off-body wireless communication using parasitic elements and meta-surface for the applications of Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) has been proposed in this research. The proposed metamaterial-based antenna resonates in Industrial Scientific and Medical (ISM) at two different frequencies at 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz. This means the antenna will receive the data at one frequency and transmits the data at another frequency. This antenna will be used for Off Body Wireless Communication Likewise Digital Stethoscope. This antenna will also be used for Biomedical Wireless Communication in which the Patient when place the antenna on his body, the antenna will receive and collect the data and transmits the data to the Doctor's Digital Device, and the doctor can be able to know about the Patients situation. The antenna has been simulated in CST (Computer Simulation Technology) Software. We used Parasitic Elements and Meta-Materials Based Techniques in order to enhance the gain and efficiency of the antenna. The overall dimension of the projected antenna is 44mmx44mmx1.6mm. To evaluate the impact of physical layers at 2.45GHz and 5.8GHz, human tissues like skin, fat, and muscle are used. The required results indicate that this antenna can be used for the applications of WBAN. Once the physical body is introduced near the projected antenna, the antenna’s performance such as s11 & bandwidth is also affected. This antenna is miniaturized and assembled to be used for off body links.

Project Objectives

The main objectives of our project are listed below:

(1) Use for Wireless Communication like Digital stethoscope

(2) Will be used for Off Body Wireless Communication like on Chest, Legs, and Arms

(3) Compare the results with the previous research

(4) Publish Conference as well as Journal Research Articles on this Project at International Level

(5) Doing Fabrication of the antenna to make it practical use

(6) Testing the antenna on Human Body Tissues like Skin, Fat and Muscle

(7) Will be used for Man to Man Wireless Communication

(8) Will be used for Man to Vehicle Wireless Communication

(9) Receive the data at one frequency

(10) Transmits the data at another frequency

(11) Will also be used for Biomedical Telemetry Applications

(12) Patient to Doctor Wireless Communication

Project Implementation Method

The dual band antenna with meta-surface has been designed and simulated in CST Software. Now this antenna will be implemented on Human Body Models like on Arm, Chest and Legs. This Antenna will receive the data in the form of Electromagnetic waves at 2.45Ghz and then transmits the data at another frequency at 5.8GHz.

This designed antenna will be implemented in many applications.

We will also design a Heart Beat sensor then we will do Interfacing between Designed Antenna and the heartbeat sensor then, in this way, it will become Digital Wireless Heart Beat Sensor. The sensor senses the signals and gives the data to the antenna and the antenna will transmit the same data to the doctor's device (like a digital watch). In simple words, we can say it works like a Digital Stethoscope.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

However, we have designed the antenna and got good results according to the requirements mentioned in the above section. If we get funds, then we will be able to go for Fabrication as well as the testing process. As Fabrication and testing is very costly. We are not able to meet such high expenses. That's why we need fund in order to make our project from the University level to Professional Level. Once it will be done then we also go for Journal Publication. (Insha Allah). To initiate this project, we would require full support from your Organization. we would prefer to propose this project. We would also like to make a team of like-minded fellows to make it a success.
